Trail Making Test Normative Data for the German Older Population
CONCLUSIONS: For TMT-A, TMT-B, and B - A, the narrow age categorization and distinction between three educational levels proved meaningful. The 300 s limit for the TMT-B impedes the identification of thresholds for very low performance in this age group and needs reconsideration.PMID:34009235 | DOI:10.1093/arclin/acab027

The relationship of cognitive change over time to the self-reported Ascertain Dementia 8-item Questionnaire in a general population.
CONCLUSIONS: Incident cognitive impairment and high depression risk were the strongest predictors of self-reported positive AD8 in this population-based sample. Our results inform the utility of the AD8 as a self-report measure in a large, national sample that avoids selection biases inherent in clinic-based studies. The AD8 is screening measure and should not be used to diagnose dementia clinically. PMID: 32613226 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Posterior Cortical Atrophy with Right Lower Egocentric Quadrantic Neglect and Lower Vertical Allocentric Neglect.
We report a patient with probable posterior cortical atrophy who demonstrated lower right-sided quadrantic visuospatial neglect, together with allocentric vertical neglect. METHODS/RESULTS: A 68-year-old man initially noted deficits in reading and writing. Subsequently, he developed other cognitive deficits. On vertical line bisections, he deviated upward, and on horizontal line bisections, he deviated to the left. These deviations together suggest that this man's neglect might be most severe in his right (head/body-centered) lower (below eye level) visual space. When attempting to perform vertical line bisections in ...

TDQ-30-A New Color Picture-Naming Test for the Diagnostic of Mild Anomia: Validation and Normative Data in Quebec French Adults and Elderly.
CONCLUSIONS: The TDQ-30 has the potential to become a valuable picture-naming test for the diagnosis of mild anomia associated with pathological aging. PMID: 31792492 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

CHA2DS2-VASc Stroke Risk Index and Executive Functioning in Older Adults.
CONCLUSION: Significant relations between stroke risk classification and performance on several measures of executive functioning provide support for a wider and more generalized use of CHA2DS2-VASc with healthy older adults. These findings further highlight the importance of early identification and treatment of stroke risk factors associated with cognitive decline. Findings suggest that CHA2DS2-VASc is a practical and useful tool for patients and their providers in the early detection of stroke risk and development of individualized treatment plans. Robot Diagnosis Test for Egocentric and Allocentric Hemineglect.
Conclusions: The MonAmour robot test is a valid, sensitive and reliable tool that can diagnose egocentric and allocentric hemineglect. Future studies will deepen the assessment and understanding of the different forms of hemineglect by testing the motor component of the test in order to use this accurate and integrative measure in daily clinical routine. Registration: ClinicalTrials.gov(NCT02543424). PMID: 30084880 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

The Role of Apathy and Depression on Verbal Learning and Memory Performance After Stroke.
Conclusions: These results suggest that apathy, not depression, is related to verbal memory performance in stroke patients. Future research should explore whether treatment of apathy (e.g., improving motivation) could be a novel target for improving cognition after stroke. Researchers should also examine whether this model can be applied to other aspects of cognition, including executive function and other areas of memory including autobiographical and working memory. Using Mahalanobis Distance to Evaluate Recovery in Acute Stroke.
Discussion: In the acute phase of stroke using Mahalanobis distance it is possible to distinguish between recovery, normal learning, and gerneralized learning deficits thereby identifying likely candidates for further cognitive assessment and rehabilitation. Predicting Cognitive Functioning, Activities of Daily Living, and Participation 6 Months after Mild to Moderate Stroke.
Conclusions: These results support the clinical utility of administering brief screening instruments during acute recovery from mild to moderate stroke. Neuropsychologists should prioritize performance on screening measures assessing acute neurologic status and cognitive dysfunction when making recommendations for post-stroke rehabilitation.
