The Piano Man: A Case Report of Anterior Thalamic Infarct with Dementia and Preserved Music Ability
CONCLUSIONS: The case has implications for understanding the complex integrative functions of the thalamus, including how profound impairment can simultaneously present with cognitive strengths that may not be captured by performance on neuropsychological testing. This case also suggests that magnetic resonance imaging may be indicated in cases presenting with vascular risk factors and sudden onset cognitive impairment, given that computed tomography may not be sensitive to small subcortical infarcts.PMID:37699427 | DOI:10.1093/arclin/acad069

The Association of Personal Neglect with Motor, Activities of Daily Living, and Participation Outcomes after Stroke: A Systematic Review
Arch Clin Neuropsychol. 2023 Aug 17:acad063. doi: 10.1093/arclin/acad063. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTDespite its potential clinical impact, the association of personal neglect (PN) with motor, activities of daily living (ADL), and participation outcomes after stroke is not well-understood. This first-ever systematic review on the topic therefore evaluates this association, taking into account suggested subtypes of PN, including body representation neglect, somatosensory neglect, motor neglect, and premotor neglect. A systematic literature search was conducted on February 17, 2023 in PubMed, Web of Science, Scopus, PubPs...

Validation of and Normative Data of the DVAQ-30, a New Video-Naming Test for Assessing Verb Anomia
CONCLUSIONS: The DVAQ-30 fills an important gap and has the potential to help clinicians and researchers better detect verb anomia associated with pathological aging and post-stroke aphasia.PMID:35901465 | DOI:10.1093/arclin/acac052
