Effects of virtual reality in post-stroke aphasia: a systematic review and meta-analysis
ConclusionThis review demonstrated a borderline positive clinical effect of VR for the severity of language impairment when compared with conventional rehabilitation therapy. Conversely, VR had no effect on functional communication, word finding, and repetition. Further research is warranted to reach more definite conclusions.

Impact on daily clinical practice of the latest evidence on percutaneous closure of patent foramen ovale after cryptogenic stroke: a single-center experience
ConclusionAfter the publication of clinical trials that have shown benefit of PFO closure after CS, the number of inappropriate indications for closure has decreased significantly in our institution, with a higher percentage of CA, despite a clinical profile suggestive of lower causal probability of PFO.

The effects and mechanisms of transcranial ultrasound stimulation combined with cognitive rehabilitation on post-stroke cognitive impairment
ConclusionTranscranial ultrasound stimulation combined with conventional cognitive rehabilitation therapy improved the PSCI condition with better efficacy than conventional cognitive rehabilitation therapy only. The mechanism involved may be correlated with the upregulation of BDNF and P300 induced by TUS.

Symptomatic intracranial atherosclerotic disease: an ultrasound 2-year follow-up pilot study
ConclusionsThe high rate of recurrent stroke or death among ICAD patients seems to be independent of progressive arterial narrowing. Serum level of lipoprotein-associated phospholipase A2 is a potential biomarker of vertebrobasilar dolichoectasia and its progression to cerebral infarction
ConclusionsThe serum marker Lp-PLA2 is an independent risk factor for the occurrence of VBD and the progression of VBD to posterior circulation ischemic stroke. Whether intervening on atherosclerosis could prevent the occurrence and development of VBD needs to be further studied.
