Direct current cardioversion practices following percutaneous left atrial appendage closure
DiscussionThere is a widely varied practice pattern of TEE, CCTA, and OAC use with DCCV after LAAC, with a 6% rate of LAT/DRT. LAA imaging before DCCV appears prudent in all cases, especially within 1 year of LAAC, to assess for device position, PDL, and LAT/DRT.

Sex ‐based differences in safety and efficacy of catheter ablation for atrial fibrillation
ConclusionFemale patients were older and had higher CHA2DS2-VASc scores compared to males at the time of AF ablation. Women tried more AADs than men before ablation. One-year arrhythmia recurrence rates and procedural complications were similar in both sexes. No sex-based differences were observed in safety and efficacy of ablation.

Same ‐day discharge for left atrial appendage occlusion procedure: A systematic review and meta‐analysis
ConclusionsThis meta-analysis of seven observational studies showed no significant difference in patient safety outcomes and post-discharge complications between same-day discharge versus HA. These findings provide a solid basis to perform a randomized control trial to eliminate any potential confounders.

Increasing time between first diagnosis of atrial fibrillation and catheter ablation adversely affects long ‐term outcomes in patients with and without structural heart disease
ConclusionDelays in catheter ablation for AF resulted in increased all-cause mortality in all patients with differential impact observed on HF hospitalization, stroke, and AF recurrence risks by baseline EF. These data favor earlier use of ablation for AF in patients with and without structural heart disease. This article is protected by copyright. All rights reserved.

Atrial fibrillation detection using insertable cardiac monitor after stroke: A real ‐world cohort study
ConclusionPatients with stroke or TIA have a higher rate of AF detection. However, this real-world study shows significantly lower AF detection rates than what has been previously reported.

Safety of Left Atrial Appendage Closure in Heart Failure Patients
ConclusionLAAC appears to be a safe procedure in patients with HF. The study is limited by a short follow up period and long-term follow up is required before definitive conclusions can be made. This article is protected by copyright. All rights reserved.

Surgical versus catheter ablation in atrial fibrillation: a systematic review and meta ‐analysis of randomized controlled trials
ConclusionCatheter ablation was associated with higher atrial arrhythmia recurrence when compared with surgical ablation. However, our study suggests that the benefit of surgical ablation in patients with persistent AF is unclear. More studies and alternative ablation strategies investigation in persistent AF are warranted. This article is protected by copyright. All rights reserved.

US Hospital Webpages on Atrial Fibrillation Ablation: A Potential Source for Misinformation
ConclusionUS hospital webpages rarely discuss AF ablation. When discussed, there were concerning unsubstantiated claims regarding mortality, stroke prevention, and need for medical therapy. This could lead to some patients undergoing AF ablation based on faulty understanding. This article is protected by copyright. All rights reserved.
