Subclinical atrial fibrillation in patients with recent transient ischemic attack
ConclusionsThe one‐year incidence of AF in TIA patients with normal ECG and HM was 6.7% using an ICM. Factors associated with development of AF were recurrent TIA and heart failure. This article is protected by copyright. All rights reserved

Temporal trends of in ‐hospital complications associated with catheter ablation of atrial fibrillation in united states: An update from nationwide inpatient sample database (2011‐2014)
ConclusionOur study noted a decline in AF ablation related hospitalizations and complications associated with the procedure. These findings largely reflect shifting trends of outpatient performance of the procedure and increasing safety profile due to improved institutional expertise and catheter techniques. This article is protected by copyright. Anticoagulation use and clinical outcomes after catheter ablation in patients with persistent and longstanding persistent atrial fibrillation
ConclusionAnticoagulation discontinuation in well selected, closely monitored patients following successful ablation of nonparoxysmal AF was associated with a low rate of clinical embolic CVEs. Prospective studies are required to confirm safety of OAT discontinuation after successful AF ablation. This article is protected by copyright. All rights reserved

Safety  profiles of percutaneous left atrial appendage closure devices: An analysis of the Food and Drug Administration Manufacturer and User Facility Device Experience (MAUDE) database from 2009 to 2016
ConclusionsMAUDE‐reported data show that postapproval, new technology adoption is fraught with increased complications. Improved collaboration between operators, device manufacturers, and regulators can better serve patients through increased transparency and practical postmarket training and monitoring mechanisms.

Five ‐year impact of catheter ablation for atrial fibrillation in patients with a prior history of stroke
ConclusionIn patients with AF and a prior CVA, patients undergoing ablation have lower rates of recurrent stroke compared to AF patients not ablated. Although the full mechanisms of benefit are unknown, as CVA rates are similar to patients without AF these data are suggestive of a potential altering of the natural history of disease progression. This article is protected by copyright. Long ‐term aspirin does not lower risk of stroke and increases bleeding risk in low‐risk atrial fibrillation ablation patients
ConclusionsAfter catheter ablation, low risk patients do not benefit from long‐term aspirin therapy, but are at risk for higher rates of bleeding when compared to no therapy or warfarin.
