Opportunities and limitations of risk adjustment of quality indicators based on inpatient administrative health data - a workshop report
DISCUSSION: Implementing specific risk adjustment models had only minor effects on the distribution of risk-adjusted mortality compared to the standard procedure, but the judgement of quality of care could change for a fifth of the hospitals in individual indicators. Concerning methodological and practical reasons, the task force recommends further development of risk adjustment methods for selected indicators. Development of a flexible rehabilitation concept for a neurological in-patient rehabilitation program after stroke.
CONCLUSION: The evidence-based and consensus-based concept is characterized by being individually and flexibly applicable to the individual patient. In this way, it meets the given demands and fulfils the requirements of a heterogeneous group of patients. It is intended to incorporate the treatment concept into the routine healthcare services offered by the AOK Baden-Württemberg. The effect of a national quality improvement collaborative on prehospital care for acute myocardial infarction and stroke in England
Conclusions: This first national prehospital QIC led to significant improvements in ambulance care for AMI and stroke in England. The use of care bundles as measures, clinical engagement, application of quality improvement methods, provider prompts, individualized feedback and opportunities for learning and interaction within and across organizations helped the collaborative to achieve its aims.
