Standardized Transfer Process for a Neurointensive Care Unit and Assessment of Patient Bounceback
ConclusionsPatients who bounceback to the neuro-ICU within 48  h had an increased length of hospital stay, had an increased length of ICU stay, and were more likely to be intubated for more than 96 h. Implementation of a standardized five-step transfer process from the neuro-ICU to a lower level of care resulted in improvement in multiple provider-rated safe ty outcomes and identification of high-risk patients but led to no difference in the patient bounceback rate or patient disposition at discharge.

Validation of olfactory deficit as a biomarker of Alzheimer disease
Conclusions: Olfactory identification deficit is a useful screening tool for AD-related amnestic disorder, with sensitivity and specificity comparable to other established biomarkers, with benefits such as ease of administration and low cost. Olfactory identification deficit can be utilized to stratify risk of conversion from aMCI to AD and enrich clinical trials of disease-modifying therapy. Classification of evidence: This study provides Class III evidence that smell identification (10-item UPSIT subset) accurately identifies patients with amnestic disorders.

Long-term Outcomes of Parkinson's Disease Patients with Normal Cognition. (P5.260)
Conclusion:More than one-third of PD patients with NC develop cognitive impairment within 4 years, and the majority of new MCI cases convert to dementia within 3 years. Worse executive, language and memory abilities all predict future decline. Endocarditis Is a Common Stroke Mechanism in Hemodialysis Patients Brief Reports
Conclusions— Cardioembolism and cryptogenic stroke are the predominant stroke mechanisms among hemodialysis patients. Infective endocarditis was identified frequently relative to other stroke cohorts, and a raised index of suspicion is warranted in the hemodialysis population.
