Sixth Annual Pediatric Interagency Registry for Mechanical Circulatory Support (Pedimacs) Report
CONCLUSIONS: This Sixth Pedimacs Report demonstrates the continued evolution of the pediatric field. The complexity of cardiac physiologies and anatomical constraint mandates the need for multiple types of devices utilized (PC, PP, IC). UFH is a poly-dispersed, relatively impure combination of many polysaccharides known as a glycosaminoglycan. It is used as the primary anticoagulant for heart surgery as well as for active treatment of deep venous thrombosis, vascular thrombosis, stroke, and many other potentially catastrophic clotting syndromes. In ‐hospital outcomes of transcatheter versus surgical aortic valve replacement in non‐teaching hospitals
ConclusionsTAVR conferred similar in ‐hospital mortality and major peri‐procedural complications compared with SAVR in non‐teaching hospitals. For those with limited access to teaching hospitals, non‐teaching hospitals appear to be a reasonable option for candidates of aortic valve replacement for severe aortic stenosis.

Commentary: Aortic arch surgery —Acting your age
Growing technology and access to health care have led to improved life spans across the world. It is projected that life expectancy may increase over the coming decades from 79.7  years in 2017 to 85.6 years by 2060 in the United States.1 With resultant changes in demographics, the need for complex surgical procedures such as aortic surgery in the elderly population is now commonplace. Despite technical advances and improved outcomes in proximal aortic surgery, the complex ity of these operations still predispose the elderly to higher risks of stroke, delirium, and renal failure.

Type A aortic dissection in the East and West: A comparative study between two hospitals from China and the US
ConclusionsThere was a significant increase in the number of ATAAD at NDTH during the study period while the number at MGH remained stable. Hypertension was a common major risk factor; however, the onset of ATAAD at NDTH was nearly one decade earlier than MGH. Chinese patients tended to have more complicated preoperative pathophysiology at presentation and underwent more extensive surgical repair.

Aortic Annular Enlargement in the Elderly: Short and Long-Term Outcomes in the United States.
CONCLUSIONS: These data suggest annular enlargement during SAVR is associated with increased short-term risk in a Medicare population. Survival curves crossed after three years, which may portend a benefit in select patients. However, annular enlargement is still only done in the minority of patients who are at risk for PPM. Medical malpractice in heart transplantation from 1994 to 2019
ConclusionsThere should be an emphasis on documenting informed consent from all involved parties in heart transplantation to limit litigations filed against clinicians. As technologies and growing donor pools increase the prevalence of heart transplantation, clinicians would be well ‐served to be aware of legally tenable practices that will allow them to adopt a higher transplant volume without simultaneously adopting added legal exposure.
