B-po04-162 risk of recurrent stroke with runs of supraventricular tachycardia and premature atrial contraction burden
Ischemic strokes are a significant cause of mortality in the United States, leading to roughly 140,000 deaths per year. Approximately one third are classified as cryptogenic. Previous studies have shown premature atrial contractions (PAC) and short runs of supraventricular tachycardia (SVT) increase the risk of stroke.

E-102 Transport distances for bypass and non-bypass routing models of stroke patients in the United States
ConclusionsBypass incurs a modest distance penalty for non-LVO patients and offers a modest distance benefit for LVO patients. These differences in distance are likely insignificant to intra-hospital delays that contribute greatly to delays in EVT treatment in non-bypass transport. Based on current guidelines, bypass of the nearest stroke center for an EVT-capable center may be warranted for a majority of Americans.Disclosures C. Yu: None. P. Panagos: None. A. Kansagra: None.

E-103 Pediatric hospital proximity to endovascular thrombectomy centers in the United States
ConclusionsThe vast majority of pediatric hospitals are located near thrombectomy care. These results suggest that partnerships between pediatric hospitals and thrombectomy centers can assure pediatric access to thrombectomy without unreasonably lengthy transfers.Disclosures C. E-121 Evaluation of safety and efficacy of snuffbox (Distal Radial Artery) access for mechanical thrombectomy in acute ischemic stroke
ConclusionSnuffbox (distal radial artery) access for mechanical thrombectomy in acute ischemic stroke is feasible and safe. It represents a good alternative to the traditional femoral approach, especially in cases of posterior circulation strokes, patients on anticoagulation or with large body habitus.Disclosures A. E-123 Evaluation of safety and efficacy of transradial access for mechanical thrombectomy inacute ischemic stroke - A single center experience
ConclusionTransradial access for mechanical thrombectomy in acute ischemic stroke is a primary access in tortuous vasculature/posterior circulation strokes and is a good alternative to the femoral approach. This vascular access is especially helpful in patients with posterior circulation strokes, on anticoagulation or with large body habitus.Disclosures A. Kuhn: None. J. Singh: None. O-005 Comparison of on-label versus off-label treatment of intracranial aneurysms with the pipeline embolization devices
ConclusionIn real-world practice, off-label uses of PED can achieve similar safety and efficacy to on-label uses, though there may be a slightly higher rate of ischemic complications in off-label uses. Expert judgment is a useful supplement to official guidelines when assessing reasonable PED use beyond its approved indications.Disclosures S. Cler: None. D. Lauzier: None. A. O-016 Aspiration thrombectomy for acute ischemic stroke patients presenting after 6 hours
ConclusionFor patients with late presentation stroke, aspiration thrombectomy with the Penumbra System in anterior circulations is safe and effective. Rates of good functional outcome and all-cause mortality compare favorably to the DAWN and DEFUSE-3 medical management arms.Disclosures A. P-029 Impact of in-hospital delirium on outcomes of acute ischemic stroke
ConclusionsDelirium complicates ~3.5% of AIS admissions, and is associated with increased risk of in-hospital death, longer stay, higher charges and decrease in likelihood of home discharge.Disclosures D. Trends in acute ischemic stroke treatments and mortality in the United States from 2012 to 2018
CONCLUSIONS: From 2012 to 2018, use of tPA and MT increased significantly, irrespective of age, while mortality decreased in the entire AIS population. The most dramatic decrease in mortality was seen in the MT-treated population. Age-standardized mortality improved only in patients older than 70 years, with no change in younger patients.PMID:34198248 | DOI:10.3171/2021.4.FOCUS21117
