Visual perceptual deficit screening in stroke survivors: evaluation of current practice in the United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland
CONCLUSIONS: Visual perceptual deficits are screened post-stroke at a similar rate to sensory vision or visual neglect. Underdiagnosis of visual perceptual deficits may stem from both reliance on subjective and non-standardised screening approaches, and conflicting definitions of visual perception held among clinicians. Inclusion of stroke patients in expanded cardiac rehabilitation services: a cross-national qualitative study with cardiac and stroke rehabilitation professionals.
CONCLUSIONS: Hybrid cardiac rehabilitation programmes could be tailored to deliver stroke-specific education, exercises and multidisciplinary expertise. Post-stroke cognitive impairment was identified as a key barrier to participation in cardiac rehabilitation. A cognitive rehabilitation intervention could potentially be delivered as part of cardiac rehabilitation, to address the cognitive needs of stroke and cardiac patients. Exploring functional outcomes and allied health staffing levels in an inpatient paediatric rehabilitation unit.
CONCLUSIONS: This review from a tertiary hospital-based inpatient paediatric rehabilitation service provides information regarding the length of stay, functional change and allied health workload for children and adolescents on active inpatient rehabilitation programs. As expected, total and rehabilitation episode length of stay, functional improvement and allied health contact and input varied according to diagnostic groups.
