Intravascular lithotripsy-assisted PCI for severely calcified coronary lesions: evaluating the impact on quality of life and outcomes
ConclusionsCoronary IVL is a safe and effective adjunctive therapy for treating heavily calcified coronary lesions. This cohort shows high procedural success and a significant reduction in CCS angina at follow-up.

The effect of pelvic floor muscle training on urinary incontinence in patients with stroke: a systematic review and meta-analysis
ConclusionsThe results demonstrated that PFMT had positive effects in terms of daytime urination frequency and incontinence. Although some studies have reported positive effects on symptoms, function, strength, and endurance, the generalizability of these results is controversial. Further studies should assess the quality-of-life and function with urinary incontinence and stroke-specific tools.

The relationship between infarct volume and high sensitivity troponin I level in patients diagnosed with ischemic stroke
ConclusionsHs-troponin I may be an effective biomarker in predicting the prognosis of patients with acute ischemic stroke. Multicenter comprehensive prospective studies are warranted to obtain stronger results.

188 Structural differences in access to neurological healthcare in Northern Ireland: a neurodisparity index
Disparities in management of neurological patients should be minimal in a universal healthcare system. Northern Ireland has one neuroscience centre but no neurology centres. We have devised an easily- applied neurodisparity index (NDI) to measure population equity of neurological healthcare. NDI=number of patients managed per 105 population per Trust/number of patients managed per 105 population of the tertiary centre Trust. NDIs <0.75 and >1.25 were arbitrarily designated as neurodisparities. NDIs were calculated between 2013–2016 for intravenous thrombolysis (eight centres) or mechanical thrombectomy (one cen...

Transcatheter aortic valve implantation-related infective endocarditis: experience from an Irish tertiary referral centre
ConclusionsThis Irish cohort of TAVI-IE exhibited a similar incidence and time to presentation compared to prior international registries; however, the 1-year mortality rate was comparatively lower. The need for rigorous dental clearance pre-TAVI and maintenance of dental health post-TAVI is underscored by the high prevalence of oral streptococcus species in this cohort.

Po-652-06 a novel measure to identify inequity in the treatment of atrial fibrillation: decreased access to cardioversion/ablation in counties with low health rankings
Adequate treatment of atrial fibrillation (AF) is critical for managing patient stroke risk and quality of life. Cardioversion and ablation (CV/A) procedures are commonly performed to treat AF, yet differences in access to these treatments have not been explored from a population health perspective.

Investigating the association between inpatient stroke therapy and disability, destination on discharge, length of stay and mortality: a prospective cohort study using the Sentinel Stroke National Audit Programme
Conclusions Our findings suggest for stroke inpatients requiring therapy, ‘More is better’ may be overly simplistic. Strong limitations associated with analysis of routine data restrict further robust investigation of the therapy–response relationship. Robust prospective work is urgently needed to further investigate the relationships observed here.

The impact of stroke, cognitive function and post-stroke cognitive impairment (PSCI) on healthcare utilisation in Ireland: a cross-sectional nationally representative study
Cognitive impairment after stroke is associated with poorer health outcomes and increased need for long-term care. The aim of this study was to determine the impact of stroke, cognitive function and post-strok...

Stroke Risk Factors, Subtype, and Outcomes in a Multi-Ethnic Stroke Population
Conclusion Our study demonstrates that stroke patients ONIE have a different stroke subtype and demographic profile compared to Irish patients. Patients ONIE are more likely to be young, male with higher rates of ICH.PMID:35279054
