Relationships between long-term residential exposure to total environmental noise and stroke incidence
CONCLUSION: The results suggest that total environmental noise is associated with incident stroke, which is consistent with studies on transportation noise and other CVD.PMID:35900388 | DOI:10.4103/nah.nah_34_21

Clinical characteristics, multiorgan dysfunction and outcomes of patients with COVID-19: a prospective case series
This study provides further evidence that COVID-19 is a multisystem disease involving neurologic, cardiac and thrombotic dysfunction, without evidence of hepatic dysfunction. Patients have persistent organ dysfunction after hospital discharge, underscoring the need for research on long-term outcomes of COVID-19 survivors.PMID:35853662 | DOI:10.9778/cmajo.20210151

Comparison of carbetocin as a bolus or an infusion with prophylactic phenylephrine on maternal heart rate during Cesarean delivery under spinal anesthesia: a double-blinded randomized controlled trial
CONCLUSION: Carbetocin infused over ten minutes did not reduce the magnitude of maternal heart rate variation but delayed its occurrence. This finding could be relevant to the anesthesiologist caring for parturients in whom a slight increase in maternal heart rate is clinically undesirable.STUDY REGISTRATION: www.CLINICALTRIALS: gov (NCT03404544); registered 19 January 2018.PMID:35352277 | DOI:10.1007/s12630-022-02227-y

Acute ischaemic stroke associated with SARS-CoV-2 infection in North America
Conclusion There is relationship between COVID-19-associated AIS and severe disability or death. We identified several factors which predict worse outcomes, and these outcomes were more frequent compared to global averages. We found that elevated neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio, rather than D-Dimer, predicted both morbidity and mortality.

Background incidence rates of hospitalisations and emergency department visits for thromboembolic and coagulation disorders in Ontario, Canada for COVID-19 vaccine safety assessment: a population-based retrospective observational study
Conclusions Our estimated background rates help contextualise observed events of these potential adverse events of special interest and to detect potential safety signals related to COVID-19 vaccines.

Early Goal-directed Therapy During Endovascular Coiling Procedures Following Aneurysmal Subarachnoid Hemorrhage: A Pilot Prospective Randomized Controlled Study
Conclusions: A high proportion of aSAH patients presented at the coiling procedure with dehydration and a low cardiac output state; these derangements were more likely to be corrected if the GDT algorithm was used. Compared with standard therapy, use of the GDT algorithm resulted in earlier recognition and more consistent treatment of dehydration and hemodynamic derangement during endovascular coiling.
