Stand-Alone Left Atrial appendage occlusion for throMboembolism prevention in nonvalvular Atrial fibrillatioN DiseasE Registry (SALAMANDER): protocol for a prospective observational nationwide study
Introduction Atrial fibrillation (AF) is a prevalent disease considerably contributing to the worldwide cardiovascular burden. For patients at high thromboembolic risk (CHA2DS2-VASc ≥3) and not suitable for chronic oral anticoagulation, owing to history of major bleeding or other contraindications, left atrial appendage occlusion (LAAO) is indicated for stroke prevention, as it lowers patient’s ischaemic burden without augmentation in their anticoagulation profile. Methods and analysis Stand-Alone Left Atrial appendage occlusion for throMboembolism prevention in nonvalvular Atrial fibrillatioN DiseasE Registry (S...

IJERPH, Vol. 19, Pages 11939: Do Patients with Atrial Fibrillation and a History of Ischemic Stroke Overuse Reduced Doses of NOACs? & mdash; Results of the Polish Atrial Fibrillation (POL-AF) Registry
Conclusions: A significant proportion of AF patients received reduced doses of NOAC after ischemic stroke in a sizeable number of cases, without indication for dose reduction.

Prognostic value of computer tomography derived measurements of pulmonary artery diameter on long term outcomes after transcatheter aortic valve replacement
CONCLUSION: PAD >29.3 mm in baseline MDCT is associated with higher 1-year mortality after TAVR, independently of echocardiographic measure of PH and frailty.PMID:35892248 | DOI:10.33963/KP.a2022.0173

Comparison of the long-term outcomes and risk factors of aortic stenosis treatment - in patients undergoing transcatheter aortic valve implantation and surgical aortic valve replacement
CONCLUSIONS: There were no significant differences regarding prognosis after TAVI and SAVR at the 24-month follow-up in propensity score matching model. Independent predictive factors of late mortality after both procedures were EuroScore II and the respiratory failure. Independent predictive factors of late mortality specific for TAVI were NOAF, increased RDW and for SAVR: TIA, stroke, COPD and RBC transfusion.PMID:35521716 | DOI:10.33963/KP.a2022.0122

Prognostic value of preoperative electrocardiography in predicting myocardial injury after vascular surgery
CONCLUSION: This study confirmed that preoperative ECG abnormalities are frequent in patients undergoing high-risk vascular surgery. However, we did not find evidence supporting relation between preoperative ECG abnormalities and postoperative adverse cardiac outcomes in high risk patients.PMID:35344585 | DOI:10.33963/KP.a2022.0085
