Hemodynamic outcomes of stenting for vertebrobasilar insufficiency in patients with a low flow state
CONCLUSIONS: Our series demonstrates angioplasty and stenting significantly improve intracranial flow over long-term. Angioplasty and stenting may improve the natural history of low-flow VB atherosclerotic disease.PMID:37386804 | DOI:10.1177/15910199231185801

Single-Center Description of Therapeutic Anticoagulation Practices and Outcomes in Large Hemispheric Infarctions
Discussion Although radiographic HT is common among patients with LHI, it does not always portend symptomatic clinical deterioration. Further research regarding AC timing and safety is necessary.

O-035 Endovascular treatment of cerebral venous thrombosis involving the deep venous system
ConclusionsAlthough deep venous involvement of CVT is uncommon, these patients are at risk of quickly becoming critically ill with an elevated rate of death or dependency. Although these patients may develop stroke, hemorrhage, or neurologic decline prompting consideration of endovascular therapy, the deep cerebral venous system is not easily accessible with catheters due to small lumens and risk of perforation. It has been proposed that deep cerebral veins may have a higher chance of recanalization if venous thrombus burden is reduced in other parts of the dural venous sinuses. Current literature has not fully explored th...

Right superior vena cava drainage into the left atrium revealed by multiples strokes after pacemaker implantation
An 84-year-old woman had undergone dual-chamber pacemaker implantation in a primary care hospital for sick sinus syndrome. The leads were inserted through the right subclavian vein because the patient was left-handed. One year later, she suffered from an ischemic stroke. During ventricular pacing, ECG showed a right bundle branch block pattern, and chest radiography (A) suggested that pacing lead tips were in the left atrium (LA) and left ventricle. After transthoracic and transesophageal echocardiography, it was initially thought that the leads passed through a patent foramen ovale. A thrombus on the ventricular lead was ...

Functional Outcome After Perinatal Cerebral Sinovenous Thrombosis: A Prospective Cohort Study (S42.006)
CONCLUSIONS: We found a high rate of neurological morbidity and seizure burden after perinatal CSVT which significantly impacted achievement of age-appropriate developmental milestones and function. Measures and predictors of functional outcome following perinatal CSVT need further exploration.Disclosure: Dr. Billinghurst has nothing to disclose. Dr. Uohara has nothing to disclose. Predictors of left atrial appendage thrombogenic milieu in patients subjected to transesophageal echocardiography prior to cardioversion of persistent atrial fibrillation.
CONCLUSIONS    CHA2DS2 -VASc scores did not discriminate between the presence/absence of TEE surrogate risk factors for thromboembolism in patients scheduled for CV due to persistent AF. Only one component of CHA2DS2 -VASc scale, radiographic evidence of aortic plaques, as well as TTE parameters, augmentation of the left atrium and left ventricular end-diastolic dimension, were independent predictors of TEE markers for LAA thrombogenic milieu. Complex clinical and echocardiographic assessment of individual risk seems to be a valuable approach in subjects scheduled for CV of persistent AF. PMID: 26811148 [PubMed - as...

P-010 Association of Clot Burden Score with Radiographic and Clinical Outcomes Following Solitaire Stent Retriever Thrombectomy: Analysis of the SWIFT PRIME Trial
ConclusionsThe combination of IV thrombolysis and stent retriever thrombectomy with the Solitaire device is highly effective in achieving successful recanalization and a good clinical outcome throughout the entire range of CBS values.DisclosuresM. Contrast induced encephalopathy mimicking reperfusion injury (P3.285)
Conclusions:Diagnostic or therapeutic angiography is frequently performed for acute ischemic or hemorrhagic stroke. Clinicians should be aware of contrast induced encephalopathy and consider it in cases of neurologic deterioration after angiography in order to initiate appropriate treatment and avoid unnecessary invasive tests.Disclosure: Dr. Bakradze has nothing to disclose. Outcomes after coverage of lenticulostriate vessels by flow diverters: a multicenter experience.
CONCLUSIONSThe use and versatility of flow diversion is increasing, and safety data are continuing to accumulate. Here, the authors provide early data on the safety of covering lenticulostriate vessels with flow diverters. The authors concluded that the coverage of these perforators does not routinely lead to clinically significant ischemia when dual antiplatelet therapy is continued for 6 months. Further evaluation is needed in larger cohorts and with imaging follow-up as experience develops in using these devices in more distal circulation. PMID: 30641842 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Routine Stent-Bridging to the Supraaortic Vessels in Aortic Arch Replacement - 10 year-experience
CONCLUSIONS: SAVSTEB is a comparatively simple, safe and efficacious technique to create the anastomosis between tetrabranched arch grafts and the supra-aortic arteries in the short and intermediate term. Bleeding from the anastomoses, kinking and scar associated stenosis are negligible; however, vertebral overstenting remains a critical technical issue.PMID:34186091 | DOI:10.1016/j.athoracsur.2021.05.074

COVID-19 and supra-aortic trunks disease: review of literature about critical phase and sequelae
J Cardiovasc Surg (Torino). 2021 Sep 28. doi: 10.23736/S0021-9509.21.12021-X. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTThe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) is responsible for the COVID-19 disease, a global pandemic. A strong association has been documented between COVID-19 and cardiovascular events, although the exact pathophysiological mechanism is still unclear. Carotid atherothrombosis and ischemic stroke represents one of the possible severe manifestations of COVID-19, as a leading cause of long-term disability and death. Different complex intertwined mechanisms seem to underlie the endothelitis which is the ...
