Repeated intravenous thrombolysis after recurrent stroke. A case series and review of the literature
Conclusions: IV re-thrombolysis may be safe and effective when recurrent stroke occurs after a period of complete neurologic regression lasting at least 24h or minor disability (mRS score ≤2) lasting at least 3months since the previous stroke.Highlights:

Experience of pediatric stroke from a tertiary medical center in North India
Conclusion: AIS is more common than ICH in this study and 8.9% patients died. Infection is the most common cause of pediatric stroke in Northern India which is amenable to therapy and is preventable.

Reservations against new oral anticoagulants after stroke and cerebral bleeding
Abstract: Dabigatran, rivaroxaban, and apixaban are the new oral anticoagulants (NOAC) which have been investigated in patients with atrial fibrillation (AF) for primary and secondary prevention of stroke and thromboembolism. In these trials NOAC had a similar efficacy and safety profile compared to traditional vitamin-K-antagonists such as warfarin. Gastrointestinal complications after ischemic stroke
Ischemic stroke is an important cause of morbidity and mortality, and currently the leading cause of adult disability in developed countries. Stroke is associated with various non-neurological medical complications, including infections and thrombosis. Gastrointestinal complications after stroke are also common, with over half of all stroke patients presenting with dysphagia, constipation, fecal incontinence or gastrointestinal bleeding. These complications are associated with increased hospital length of stay, the development of further complications and even increased mortality.

MRI based thrombolysis for FLAIR-negative stroke patients within 4.5 –6h after symptom onset
To investigate the feasibility of DWI-FLAIR mismatch in identifying patients who might benefit from thrombolytic therapy within 4.5 –6h, we analyzed the data of 105 ischemic stroke patients with known time of symptom onset who underwent MRI within 6h of stroke and thrombolysis between December 2006 and December 2013. They were divided into three groups: symptom onset within 4.5h (n=66); 4.5–6h and FLAIR images negative (n=9) ; and 4.5–6h and FLAIR images positive (n=30). Outcome of thrombolysis was assessed for each group by recanalization rate, National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) and modified Rankin Scale (mRS) scores.

Carotid webs in large vessel occlusion stroke: Clinical, radiological and thrombus histopathological findings
Carotid webs are an under-recognized embolic source in patients with cryptogenic stroke. Limited resources currently exist to assist clinicians in stroke prevention for patients with symptomatic carotid webs (SCW). We aimed at analysing the clinical, radiological and procedural features of stroke patients with SCW undergoing endovascular thrombectomy (EVT), and to describe the histopathological composition of their occlusive thrombi.

Cerebral edema in acute stroke: Effect of thrombolytic treatment
Cerebral edema (CED) is a common complication of ischemic stroke in Intensive Care Unit. Although frequently observed in patients undergoing intravenous thrombolytic (IVT) treatment, the pathogenic role of recombinant tissue plasminogen activator (rtPA) in CED induction has not yet been definitively clarified. The aim of our study is to verify the relationship between CED and rtPA in patients affected by acute ischemic stroke, without reperfusion signs, evaluating the CED growth rate in the first week after stroke onset.

CTP infarct core may predict poor outcome in stroke patients treated with IV t-PA
Conclusion: CTP parameters derived from commercially available software and published thresholds yield little predictive value for good clinical outcomes for AIS patients treated with IV t-PA but may be useful in predicting poor clinical outcome especially if the area of non-viable tissue is greater than 30cm2.Highlights:

Spontaneous sternocleidomastoid muscle hematoma following thrombolysis for acute ischemic stroke
We report the case of an 83y.o. woman with right facio-brachio-crural hemiparesis, left deviation of the head and aphasia who developed, after thrombolytic therapy, a spontaneous sternocleidomastoid muscle hematoma that regressed few days later. To our knowledge, this is the first case reported in the literature of asymptomatic and spontaneous skeletal muscle hematoma following thrombolysis for the treatment of acute ischemic stroke. Outcomes after acute ischemic stroke in patients with thrombocytopenia or thrombocytosis
Thrombocytopenia may be associated with a greater risk of cerebral hemorrhage and thrombocytosis may be associated with a greater risk of cerebral thrombosis. There is a paucity of studies focused on the potential association between blood platelet count (BPC) and outcomes after acute ischemic stroke (AIS).
