COVID-19 Associated Stroke-A Single Centre Experience
CONCLUSIONS: We had a 1.6% incidence of COVID-19 related stroke of which the majority were carotid territory infarcts. In-hospital mortality was 55.17%, predicted by low GCS at admission.PMID:34472782

Frequency and Predictors of Early Seizures Following First Acute Stroke: Data from a University Hospital in South India
Conclusions: The frequency of early onset post-stroke seizures is 11.8%, with most of them occurring within 24 hours. Venous stroke, large lesion, cortical location, supratentorial location, hypercoaguable states, and hyperhomocysteinemia are independent predictors. Duration of hospital stay is increased in patients with early seizures, however, they did not influence the in-hospital mortality.

Cerebral Venous Sinus Thrombosis in a Child with Lesch & #8211;Nyhan Syndrome
We present a 3-year-old boy with global developmental delay, dystonic posturing, choreoathetoid movements, and self-mutilation involving fingers and lips. He had acute worsening of sensorium, recurrent seizures, and opisthotonous posturing. A diagnosis of Lesch–Nyhan Syndrome was confirmed by extremely low hypoxanthine-guanine phosphoribosyltransferase enzyme levels. In view of an acute neurological deterioration, magnetic resonance imaging brain and magnetic resonance venogram were done that showed sagittal and left transverse venous sinus thrombosis. This case is the first case report of cerebral venous sinu...

Predisposing factors and management of hemodynamic depression following carotid artery stenting
Pachipala Sudheer, Ayush Agarwal, Venugopalan Y Vishnu, MV Padma SrivastavaAnnals of Indian Academy of Neurology 2021 24(3):315-318 Carotid artery stenting (CAS) involves dilatation of carotid bulb which can trigger a series of neuronal responses resulting in hemodynamic depression that might influence the outcome of the procedure. This is a frequent but underdiagnosed complication of CAS. Although it is mild, transient and self-limiting in majority of cases, it can result in significant morbidity and mortality if persistent. Neurologists should be aware of the predisposing factors and management of this common complicati...

Role of Platelet to Lymphocyte Ratio (PLR) and its Correlation with NIHSS (National Institute of Health Stroke Scale) for Prediction of Severity in Patients of Acute Ischemic Stroke
CONCLUSION: Platelet to lymphocyte ratio (PLR) is a simple, cost effective and easily obtainable novel inflammatory marker that may help in predicting the severity of disease and prognosis in terms of functional outcome as evidenced by its increased value in patients of acute ischemic stroke as well as its linear positive correlation with NIHSS score.PMID:34227777
