Stroke in Children with Human Immunodeficiency Virus in Botswana: A Report of Six Cases (P4.303)
CONCLUSIONS: The risk of stroke appears to be increased in children with HIV, though further controlled studies are necessary to further investigate this. Etiologies for stroke in children with HIV includes HIV vasculopathy, HIV cardiomyopathy, and opportunistic infections. Evaluation should include head imaging with vascular imaging, MRI with MRA if possible, and CT. The utility of lumbar puncture and hypercoaguability workup in this population needs to be investigated further. Added Benefit of Stent Retriever Technology for Acute Ischemic Stroke: A Pooled Analysis of the NINDS tPA, SWIFT, and STAR Trials
CONCLUSION: Patients with acute ischemic stroke who received IV tPA or revascularization therapies had a higher likelihood of achieving independence at 3 months. Stent retriever technology combined with tPA was associated with the greatest benefit compared with placebo, tPA alone, or endovascular therapy alone. Management Protocols and Encountered Complications among Stroke Patients Admitted to Stroke Unit of Jimma University Medical Center, Southwest Ethiopia: Prospective Observational study
ConclusionBoth neurologic and medical complications were common in majority of stroke patients. But the management protocol for stroke patients was sub-optimal and lagging behind the recommended guidelines due to lack of skilled personnel, appropriate treatment and diagnostic agents. The clinical team involved in the care of stroke patients should make preparations to take preventive measures that will save a lot of lives.

The Burden of Stroke in Kurdistan Province, Iran From 2011 to 2017
CONCLUSIONS: The burden of stroke is increasing in Kurdistan Province. Since health services in Iran are based on treatment, steps are needed to revise the current treatment services for stroke and to improve the quality of services. Policy-makers and managers of the health system need to plan to reduce the known risk factors for stroke in the community. In addition to preventive interventions, efficient and up-to-date interventions are recommended for the rapid diagnosis and treatment of stroke patients in hospitals.
