Hypertrophic olivary degeneration after cerebellar hemorrhage
We present a striking example of hypertrophic olivary degeneration after cerebellar hemorrhage. This case highlights some important teaching points: unique response of the inferior olivary nucleus to de-afferentation, anatomy of Mollaret’s triangle and clinical manifestations of disruption in Mollaret’s triangle. The purpose of this teaching case is to highlight a rare but important post-stroke complication.

A 50-year-old Japanese woman presented with left thalamic intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH). CT angiography demonstrated an ICH spot sign and intracranial vasculopathy consistent with Moyamoya disease (figure 1). Conventional angiography demonstrated that the spot sign was actually a pseudoaneurysm arising from the artery of Percheron (figure 2). Readmissions in patients with Cerebral Cavernous Malformations (CCMs): a National Readmission Database (NRD) study
CONCLUSIONS: All identified comorbidities associated with increased risks of readmission contribute to vascular stress, suggesting its role in lesion pathogenesis. Outcomes of transcatheter aortic valve replacement at teaching versus nonteaching hospitals
ConclusionWith the evolution and expansion of TAVR to nonteaching centers, mortality, and readmission rates are not significantly different between nonteaching and teaching hospitals. Higher unadjusted in-hospital mortality at teaching centers suggest these centers more often treat high risk patients with associated increased complications.
