Low-dose intravenous recombinant tissue plasminogen activator in acute ischemic stroke without large vessel occlusion screened by 3T MRI
CONCLUSIONS: Our study indicates the efficacy and safety of low-dose rTPA treatment for AIS without LVO within 4.5 hours. Patient selection for rTPA by 3T MRI decreased complications and mortality.PMID:37522667 | DOI:10.26355/eurrev_202307_33126

Thematic Analysis of Psychosocial Stressors and Adaptive Coping Strategies Among Informal Caregivers of Patients Surviving ICU Admission for Coma
ConclusionsIn response to substantial stressors, family caregivers of patients with SABI attempted to enact various psychological and behavioral coping strategies. They described avoidance and distraction as less helpful than other coping strategies but had difficulty engaging in alternative strategies because of their emotional distress. These findings can directly inform the development of additional resources to mitigate the long-term impact of acute psychological distress among this caregiver population.

O-002 Safety and functional outcomes with early initiation of antiplatelet therapy following mechanical thrombectomy in emergent large vessel occlusion strokes: a single institution registry study
ConclusionsEarly AP initiation after MT in patients with AIS due to LVO was independently associated with significantly increased odds of better postoperative functional outcomes without increased odds of developing HT.Abstract O-002 Table 1Safety, clinical and functional outcomes: univariable analysis N=190 Early (<24 hours) (n=95) Late (>24 hours) (n=95) p-value Hemorrhagic TransformationSymptomaticAsymptomaticInpatient Mortality 25 (26.3)3 (3.2)22 (23.2)16 (16.8) 21 (22.1)8 (8.4)13 (13.7)23 (24.2) 0.4980.1200.0920.281 Discharge Modified Rankin Score*Functional Independence 4 (0-6)29 (30.5) 5 (0-6)14 (14.7) <.0...

O-004 A propensity score-matched comparative study of balloon guide catheters vs conventional guide catheters for mechanical thrombectomy with stenting in tandem strokes: comparison of 1st-pass effect, symptomatic ICH, and 90-day functional outcomes
ConclusionBGCs used for concurrent MT-carotid revascularization with flow arrest were safe and resulted in superior clinical and angiographic outcomes in tandem stroke patients.Abstract O-004 Table 1Multivariate logistic regression analysis performed after propensity score matching to compare procedural parameters and angiographic and clinical outcomes between balloon guide catheter and conventional guide catheter groupsDisclosures A. O-007 Bridging thrombolysis yields diminished benefit among elderly stroke patients treated with endovascular thrombectomy
ConclusionsBridging thrombolysis may be associated with better outcomes in a real-world setting; however, this association is diminished among elderly patients due to higher rates of hemorrhagic complications. Meta-analyses of trial data and future prospective studies are needed to fully elucidate the benefits and risks of bridging thrombolysis in the elderly population.Abstract O-007 Figure 1Disclosures H. O-008 Endovascular thrombectomy outcomes stratified by hospital thrombectomy volume: a national inpatient sample study
ConclusionsPatients receiving EVT for AIS at HV centers were more likely to be discharged to home without assistance but demonstrated lower rates of in-hospital mortality when compared to IV and LV centers. Our findings support HV EVT performing centers render more favorable outcomes in this NIS analysis.Disclosures A. Brake: None. L. Fry: None. C. Heskett: None. G. LeBeau: None. C. Lei: None. A. O-010 Tigertriever in the treatment of acute ischemic stroke in patients with underlying intracranial atherosclerotic disease
ConclusionTigertriever exerts a higher radial force that can be manually tailored to achieve better recanalization in patients with LVO due to ICAD.ReferenceGupta R, Saver JL, Levy E, et al. O-014 Mechanical thrombectomy for the treatment of primary and secondary anterior cerebral artery occlusions--insights from STAR
ConclusionClinical and procedural outcomes for MT-treated ACA occlusions can vary based on etiology (ie. primary, secondary). While rate of successful recanalization and 90-day mortality were similar, secondary ACA occlusions were associated with higher rates of morbidity compared to primary ACA occlusions. Our findings demonstrate the need for an established criteria to determine ideal patient and ACA stroke characteristics amendable to MT treatment. Randomized control trials are necessary to further examine differences in outcomes based on etiology of ACA occlusion.Disclosures N. Dabhi: None. J. Kumar: None. N. Ironside:...
