Effect of Transcatheter (via Femoral Artery) Aortic Valve Implantation on the Platelet Count and Its Consequences
In conclusion, a decrease in platelet count is a common phenomenon after TAVI, and its severity is associated with poor outcomes.

Risk Factors, Therapeutic Approaches, and In‐Hospital Outcomes in Mexicans With ST‐Elevation Acute Myocardial Infarction: The RENASICA II Multicenter Registry

Two-Year Outcomes for Patients With Severe Symptomatic Aortic Stenosis Treated With Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation
In conclusion, the clinical outcome of TAVI is favorable. The use of both procedural devices and multiple techniques in the same institution is feasible and potentially desirable.

Major risk-stratification models fail to predict outcomes in patients with multivessel coronary artery disease undergoing simultaneous hybrid procedure.
CONCLUSIONS: In patients with multivessel disease undergoing a hybrid procedure, the SYNTAX score, EuroSCORE, SinoSCORE and GRC were inaccurate in predicting MACCE. Modifying risk-stratification models to improve the predictive value for a hybrid procedure is needed. PMID: 23422106 [PubMed - in process]

The prognostic value of serum albumin levels on admission in patients with acute ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction undergoing a primary percutaneous coronary intervention
Objectives: Hypoalbuminemia is associated with a poor prognosis in patients with end-stage renal disease, chronic ischemic heart disease, heart failure (HF), and stroke. We aimed to investigate its prognostic value in patients with acute ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) treated by a primary percutaneous coronary intervention (p-PCI). Materials and methods: We retrospectively enrolled 1706 patients with STEMI treated by p-PCI. We prospectively followed up the patients for a median duration of 40 months. Results: On admission, hypoalbuminemia (

Health related quality of life in coronary patients and its association with their cardiovascular risk profile: Results from the EUROASPIRE III survey
Conclusion: Overall, a large heterogeneity was observed in HRQoL values between countries and patient groups. There seems to be a significant association between quality of life and patient characteristics with lifestyle risk factors as important determinants of HRQoL.
