Mechanical versus bioprosthetic valves in chronic dialysis: a systematic review and meta-analysis
CONCLUSION: Mechanical valves were associated with reduced mortality, but increased rate of bleeding and stroke. Given very low certainty for evidence of mortality and stroke outcomes, patients and clinicians may choose prosthetic valves based on factors such as bleeding risk and valve longevity.STUDY REGISTRATION: PROSPERO no. Mitral valve prosthesis choice in patients < 70 years: A systematic review and meta ‐analysis of 20 219 patients
ConclusionMechanical MVR in patients aged less than 70 years is associated with a lower risk of operative mortality as well as a 20% lower risk of long ‐term death and 65% lower risk of mitral valve reoperation but 60% greater risk of bleeding compared with bioMVR in matched or adjusted data.

Short- and long-term outcomes in dialysis patients undergoing transcatheter aortic valve implantation: a systematic review and meta-analysis
ConclusionDialysis patients had significantly higher rates of short- and long-term mortality, short-term life threatening and/or major bleeding, permanent pacemaker implantation, and device failure compared to non-dialysis patients. Careful patient selection who would benefit from TAVI in patients with ESRD requiring dialysis, is necessary to prevent high-rates of post-procedural complications.

Cardiologists' and nephrologists' management of atrial fibrillation in hemodialysis patients

CONCLUSION: Cardiologists were more likely to prescribe anticoagulant therapy for AF in the HD population compared to nephrologists, regardless of patient stroke or bleeding risk.
