Multimorbidity Combinations and Disability in Older Adults
Conclusions: Clinicians stand to gain from a better understanding of which disease combinations are more and less disabling among older adults. Understanding how multimorbidity combinations relate to functional status is an important step towards reducing disability and sustaining independent living among older adults.

The Relationship of Cardiovascular Disease to Physical Functioning in Women Surviving to Age 80 and Above in the Womens Health Initiative
Conclusions: Older women with any CVD, and particularly women with congestive heart failure or peripheral arterial disease, reported significantly lower PF compared to women with no CVD. Regardless of CVD diagnosis, higher PF was strongly associated with a more active lifestyle and lower body mass index, suggesting potential intervention targets for more optimal aging.

Newly Developed Chronic Conditions and Changes in Health‐Related Quality of Life in Postmenopausal Women
ConclusionThe more conditions a woman developed, the greater reduction in HRQoL she experienced. Declines in HRQoL in women with stroke, cancer, and some combinations exceeded MCID. Findings from this study might lead to more‐effective patient‐centered approaches to health care for women with multiple chronic conditions.

Lower Extremity Proximal Muscle Function and Dyspnea in Older Persons
ConclusionPoor performance on a single chair stand was associated with an adjusted 85% greater likelihood of moderate to severe exertional dyspnea than normal performance. These results suggest that reduced proximal muscle function of the lower extremities is associated with moderate to severe exertional dyspnea, even after adjusting for multiple confounders.

Late life changes in mental health: a longitudinal study of 9683 women.
CONCLUSION: The results show associations between chronic disease and level of mental health in older age, but no evidence of a large decline in mental health in the period prior to death. PMID: 26166070 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Comorbidity and Functional Trajectories From Midlife to Old Age: The Health and Retirement Study
Conclusions. Comorbidity is associated with greater burden of physical functioning difficulties. Of the studied diseases, memory-related diseases, stroke, pulmonary diseases, and arthritis alone or in combination limit most physical functioning.

Biopsychosocial Risk Factors for Driving Cessation: Findings From the Health and Retirement Study
This study aims to identify social, psychological, and biomedical risk factors for current and future driving cessation in older adults. Method: Data from six waves (1998-2008) of the Health and Retirement Study (HRS) were pooled. Participants aged 65 and above were included in the study (N = 17,349). Results: Multivariate logistic regression models to identify risk factors for current and future driving cessation were consistent (age, gender, education, race, marital status, income, cognitive function, limits in activities of daily living and instrumental activities of daily living, vision, health, diabetes, stroke, arthr...

Time trends of incidence of age-associated diseases in the US elderly population: medicare-based analysis
Conclusion: time trends of the incidence of diseases common in the US elderly population were evaluated. The results show dramatic increase in incidence rates of melanoma, goiter, chronic renal and Alzheimer's disease in 1992–2005. Besides specifying widely recognised time trends on age-associated diseases, new information was obtained for trends of asthma, ulcer and goiter among the older adults in the USA.
