A protocol based on Hypotension probability indicator vs. standard care to prevent intraoperative hypotension during supratentorial brain surgery: a prospective randomized pilot trial
CONCLUSIONS: In this pilot trial, the HPI-based protocol decreased the incidence of hypotension during the anesthesia maintenance but non-significant trends among secondary outcomes were also documented. Complications during Fiberoptic Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing in 5,680 Examinations
Conclusions: FEES proved to be easy to perform, well tolerated by the patients and cost-effective. It can be performed at the patient ’s bedside, and it is characterized by a low rate of complications. As a matter of fact, normally only discomfort, gagging and/or vomiting are reported. Complications occurred only rarely, such as anterior or posterior epistaxis episodes or vasovagal crises, but these are still easily managed. Exc eptionally, more severe complications are reported: adverse drug reactions to substances such as blue dye (methylene blue) and local anesthetics (not used in our protocol), and laryngospasm.Folia Phoniatr Logop

Verbal and memory deficits caused by aphasic status epilepticus after resection of a left temporal lobe glioma

Aortogenic embolic stroke after sleeve pneumonectomy with median sternotomy for lung cancer: a case report
ConclusionThe median sternotomy approach in sleeve pneumonectomy enables diseased lung ventilation. However, the possibility of aortogenic embolic stroke should be considered when calcification of the ascending aorta is observed on preoperative computed tomography.

The Effects of Amino Acids Enriched Del Nido Cardioplegia on Myocardial Leucocyte Accumulation and Ventricular Functions in Patients Undergoing Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting Surgery
CONCLUSION: Our study findings show that glutamate-aspartate supplemented del Nido cardioplegia significantly decrease myocardial PMNL accumulation with reduced release of biochemical markers, including cardiac troponin-I, TNF-alpha, and Pro-Bnp.
