Suppression of Autophagy Can Augment PIK3 Inhibitor Induced Apoptosis in T Lymphoblastic Leukemia Cell Lines
CONCLUSIONS: The results demonstrated that 3-MA could suppress PI3K inhibitor-mediated activation of autophagy to promote the apoptosis of tumor cells. This discovery provided experimental support for constituting a promising strategy for T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (T-ALL) therapy.PMID:37625845

A Case of X-Linked Adrenal Hypoplasia Congenital (AHC) Due to Large Deletion of < em > NR0B1 < /em > ( < em > DAX1 < /em > ) and Contiguous Gene
Ann Clin Lab Sci. 2023 Jul;53(4):667-670.ABSTRACTX-linked adrenal hypoplasia congenita (AHC) is caused predominantly by mutations in the NR0B1 (DAX1) gene. Among these, X-linked AHC due to a large deletion of NR0B1 is extremely rare. In Korea, the first case was reported in 2005, and there have been no further documented cases since then. Herein, we report a unique case of X-linked AHC caused by an entire gene deletion that includes the NR0B1 gene and seven other genes. A seven-day-old boy presented to a pediatric endocrine clinic with prolonged postnatal jaundice, skin hyperpigmentation, hyponatremia, and hyperkalemia, su...

Circular RNA SMARCA5 Promotes a Poor Prognosis and Radiotherapy Resistance for Patients with Hepatocellular Carcinoma
CONCLUSION: CircRNA-SMARCA5 is significantly increased in HCC tissues and promotes radiotherapy resistance. More importantly, higher expression level of cSMARCA5 is related to a poorer 3-year OS for patients with HCC.PMID:37625840

Histopathologic "Evolution" in Pediatric Primary Intracranial High-Grade Sarcoma - a Key that Unlocked the Correct Diagnosis
We present a case of a 13-year-old female with a right-sided frontal hemorrhagic mass. Pathological work-up revealed an intra-cranial high-grade sarcoma, not otherwise specified (NOS). Despite receiving chemo-radiation, the lesion recurred after 9 months. This time, the sarcoma had evolved, showing distinct focal rhabdomyoblastic differentiation. Next-generation sequencing (NGS) based assay revealed variants p.E1705V, p.Y1417Ter in DICER1, and other mutations in KRAS and TP53 genes. The lesion was then diagnosed as spindle cell sarcoma with rhabdomyosarcoma-like features, DICER1 mutant. We propose that upfront molecular st...

LipidR - a Commentary on a Lipidomics Software Platform Useful for Potential Liquid Biopsies Data Analysis
Ann Clin Lab Sci. 2023 Jul;53(4):503-506.ABSTRACTLipidR is a recent software platform that uses R. This commentary briefly reviews the data published in the literature using this new tool for data mining and analyzing lipidomics datasets. This software is maintained by the R Foundation specifically for Statistical Computing. The R language is widely used among statisticians and data miners for developing statistical software and data analysis. LipidR is a novel open-source R package with enormous functionalities. LipidR filled three significant gaps in lipidomics. First, LipidR has the potential to mine public lipidomics d...

C-type Lectin Domain Family 4 Member G (CLEC4G) Is a Negative Marker for CD34 in the Evolution of Liver Pathogenesis
CONCLUSIONS: The low expression of CLEC4G is potentially correlated with LSEC capillarization and the appearance of micro-vessels. Such a phenomenon may serve as a reliable diagnostic marker for hepatocellular carcinoma.PMID:37625828

RBM15-Mediated m6A Modification of K17 Affects Keratinocytes Response to IL-17A Stimulation in Psoriasis
CONCLUSION: This study revealed that RBM15 knockdown suppressed proliferation and inflammation by mediating m6A modification of K17 to reduce K17 stability in IL-17A-induced keratinocytes. Our findings may provide novel idea for improving the treatment of psoriasis.PMID:37625827
