Metformin ameliorates ferroptosis in cardiac ischemia and reperfusion by reducing NOX4 expression via promoting AMPK α
CONCLUSIONS: Met shows effectiveness in relieving ferroptosis in cardiac I/R. In the future, Met may be an effective drug for relieving ferroptosis in cardiac I/R patients clinically.PMID:37288723 | DOI:10.1080/13880209.2023.2212700

Oroxylin A activates ferritinophagy to induce hepatic stellate cell senescence against hepatic fibrosis by regulating cGAS-STING pathway
In conclusion, we identified the new role of ferritinophagy and the GAS-STING pathway in Oroxylin A -mediated anti-hepatic fibrosis.PMID:37086511 | DOI:10.1016/j.biopha.2023.114653

Schisandrin B promotes senescence of activated hepatic stellate cell via NCOA4-mediated ferritinophagy
CONCLUSIONS: Sch B could ameliorate hepatic fibrosis through the promotion of activated HSCs senescence, which might be attributed to its induction of NCOA4-mediated ferritinophagy and subsequent iron overload.PMID:37010139 | DOI:10.1080/13880209.2023.2189908

Ginkgolide B alleviates oxidative stress and ferroptosis by inhibiting GPX4 ubiquitination to improve diabetic nephropathy
In conclusion, the results suggested that GB may improve DN via protecting the kidney from ferroptosis and oxidative stress damage by inhibiting the ubiquitination of GPX4. These findings suggested that GB, a natural medicine, may be an effective therapeutic option for DN.PMID:36411664 | DOI:10.1016/j.biopha.2022.113953

Dexmedetomidine attenuates myocardial ischemia/reperfusion-induced ferroptosis via AMPK/GSK-3 β/Nrf2 axis
In conclusion, Dex protects hearts against MIRI-induced ferroptosis via activation of Nrf2 through AMPK/GSK-3β signaling pathway.PMID:35988428 | DOI:10.1016/j.biopha.2022.113572

Sodium salicylate induces browning of white adipocytes via M2 macrophage polarization by HO-1 upregulation
Eur J Pharmacol. 2022 Jun 6:175085. doi: 10.1016/j.ejphar.2022.175085. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTBrowning, a white to brown-like (beige) adipocyte conversion, offers a promising therapeutic strategy for the treatment of human obesity. In the present study, the effects of sodium salicylate, a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug, on adipocyte browning were investigated. We found sodium salicylate altered the macrophage phenotype to M2 in RAW264.7 cells, mediated by up-regulation of heme oxygenase-1 (HO-1), and sodium salicylate-treated conditioned medium from macrophages (Sal-M2 CM) induced browning of fully differentiat...
