Role of vasodilator-stimulated phosphoprotein in RANKL-differentiated murine macrophage RAW264.7 cells: Modulation of NF- κB, c-Fos and NFATc1 transcription factors
Exp Ther Med. 2021 May;21(5):412. doi: 10.3892/etm.2021.9856. Epub 2021 Feb 25.ABSTRACTVasodilator-stimulated phosphoprotein (VASP) is essential for osteoclast differentiation, and reduced VASP expression results in depressed osteoclast differentiation. Previously, we demonstrated the importance of VASP and Ras-related C3 botulinum toxin substrate 1 interactions in osteosarcoma cell migration and metastasis using Mg-63 and Saos2 cells. However, the molecular details of the functional role of VASP in cell motility and migration remain to be elucidated. The present study demonstrated that VASP affects the expression of αV-i...

< em > Ginkgo biloba < /em > leaf extract prevents diabetic nephropathy through the suppression of tissue transglutaminase
Exp Ther Med. 2021 Apr;21(4):333. doi: 10.3892/etm.2021.9764. Epub 2021 Feb 8.ABSTRACTThe present study aimed to investigate the preventive effects of Ginkgo biloba leaf extract (GBE) against extracellular matrix (ECM) accumulation in a streptozotocin (STZ)-induced rat model of diabetic nephropathy (DN), and to determine its underlying molecular mechanism. In vivo, a rat model of DN was established by intraperitoneal injection of STZ, and the rats were subsequently administered GBE. The results demonstrated that GBE significantly decreased blood glucose, the urine protein excretion rate and ECM accumulation in DN rats. In ...

Integrin α7 knockdown suppresses cell proliferation, migration, invasion and EMT in hepatocellular carcinoma
In conclusion, ITGA7 knockdown suppressed HCC progression and inhibited EMT in HCC in vitro, implying that ITGA7 might be a novel treatment target for HCC.PMID:33717252 | PMC:PMC7885058 | DOI:10.3892/etm.2021.9740

Schizandrin B attenuates hypoxia/reoxygenation injury in H9c2 cells by activating the AMPK/Nrf2 signaling pathway.
Authors: Zhao B, Li GP, Peng JJ, Ren LH, Lei LC, Ye HM, Wang ZY, Zhao S Abstract Schizandrin B exhibits prominent antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects, and plays an important role in ameliorating myocardial ischemia/reperfusion injury. However, the underlying protective mechanisms remain to be elucidated. The aim of the present study was to explore the cardioprotective effects of schizandrin B against hypoxia/reoxygenation (H/R)-induced H9c2 cell injury, focusing on the role of the adenosine monophosphate-activated protein kinase (AMPK)/nuclear factor erythroid 2-related factor 2 (Nrf2) pathway in this process...

Abnormal expression of TRIAP1 and its role in gestational diabetes mellitus-related pancreatic β cells.
Authors: Li L, Yang K, Ye F, Xu Y, Cao L, Sheng J Abstract Gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) is a disease that is typically characterized by insulin resistance and pancreatic β cell dysfunction. Currently, the role of TP53-regulated inhibitor of apoptosis 1 (TRIAP1) in the process of GDM remains to be elucidated. Therefore, the present study investigated the effects of TRIAP1 on GDM-related pancreatic β cells. Reverse transcription-quantitative PCR and western blot assays were conducted to analyze the expression levels of TRIAP1 in the peripheral blood of patients with GDM and subjects with healthy pregnancies....

FABP4 alleviates endoplasmic reticulum stress-mediated ischemia-reperfusion injury in PC12 cells via regulation of PPAR γ.
FABP4 alleviates endoplasmic reticulum stress-mediated ischemia-reperfusion injury in PC12 cells via regulation of PPARγ. Exp Ther Med. 2021 Mar;21(3):181 Authors: Yang XL, Mi JH, Dong Q Abstract Ischemic stroke is a life-threatening complication with a high rate of morbidity. Circulating fatty acid binding protein 4 (FABP4) has been reported to be associated with the outcome of acute ischemic stroke. The present study aimed to illustrate the function of FABP4 in ischemic stroke. PC12 cells exposed to oxygen glucose deprivation/reoxygenation (OGD/R) were used to mimic ischemia-reperfusion (I/R) injury...

lncRNA uc.48+ regulates immune and inflammatory reactions mediated by the P2X7 receptor in type 2 diabetic mice.
In conclusion, these data suggest that uc.48+ may play an important role in the pathological changes of blood pressure, neurology and abdominal cell function in T2DM via interaction with the P2X7 receptor. PMID: 33224283 [PubMed]

MBD2 and EZH2 regulate the expression of SFRP1 without affecting its methylation status in a colorectal cancer cell line.
In conclusion, data from the present study revealed that MBD2 and EZH2 regulated SFRP1 expression without affecting the hypermethylation of SFRP1 in CRC cell lines. Instead, the regulation of SFRP1 expression may be through a distinct mechanism, which warrants further investigation. PMID: 33178340 [PubMed]

Small interfering RNA-mediated knockdown of KRT80 suppresses colorectal cancer proliferation.
In conclusion, the findings of the present study suggested that KRT80 may be overexpressed in CRC tissues. Furthermore, KRT80 may be involved in the proliferation of CRC cells, which is likely through its ability to regulate the cell cycle and DNA replication pathways, thus it may serve as a potential therapeutic target for patients with CRC. GSK-3 β mediates the effects of HNF-1β overexpression in ovarian clear cell carcinoma.
In conclusion and to the best of our knowledge, the current study was the first to determine that GSK-3β is a target gene of HNF-1β. In addition, the results of the present study revealed the novel HNF-1β-GSK-3β-p-NFκB pathway, occurring in response to DNA damage. Targeting this pathway may therefore represent a putative, novel, anticancer strategy in patients with OCCC. PMID: 33005248 [PubMed]

Role of TLR4/MyD88/NF- κB signaling in the contrast-induced injury of renal tubular epithelial cells.
Role of TLR4/MyD88/NF-κB signaling in the contrast-induced injury of renal tubular epithelial cells. Exp Ther Med. 2020 Nov;20(5):115 Authors: Wang X, Zhou J, Yang J, Wang S, Yang L Abstract The aim of the present study was to explore the role of toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4)/myeloid differentiation primary response 88 (MyD88)/nuclear factor (NF)-κB signaling in the contrast-induced injury of renal tubular epithelial cells, and to investigate the potential mechanisms. HK-2 cells cultured in vitro were randomly divided into six groups as follows: i) The blank group; ii) the iohexol group; iii) the NF-κ...
