Polo-like kinase 4 is associated with advanced TNM stages and reduced survival and its inhibition improves chemosensitivity in colorectal cancer
In conclusion, the high expression of tumor PLK4 was associated with advanced TNM stage and shorter OS in patients with CRC. In addition, targeting PLK4 improved chemosensitivity in CRC cells.PMID:35782899 | PMC:PMC9247664 | DOI:10.3892/ol.2022.13389

MicroRNA-3907 promotes the proliferation and migration of sebaceous gland carcinoma of the eyelid by targeting thrombospondin 1
Oncol Lett. 2021 Dec;22(6):833. doi: 10.3892/ol.2021.13094. Epub 2021 Oct 14.ABSTRACTMicroRNAs (miRNAs/miRs) play an important role in various types of carcinoma, including sebaceous gland carcinoma (SGC) of the eyelid. miR-3907 was found to be highly expressed in lung cancer; however, to the best of our knowledge, the biological role of miR-3907 in SGC has not previously been evaluated. The aim of the present study was to determine the role and mechanism of miR-3907 in the occurrence and development of SGC. miR-3907 was screened and identified as a novel upregulated miRNA in SGC tissues and cells, as determined using miRN...

Differential expression of < em > COL4A3 < /em > and collagen in upward and downward progressing types of nasopharyngeal carcinoma
In conclusion, the gene mutation patterns were significantly different between the upward and downward progressing types of NPC. In addition, the expression level of the COL4A3 gene was decreased in the downward progressing type, which might promote NPC metastasis through the downregulation of extracellular collagen expression.PMID:33613712 | PMC:PMC7859474 | DOI:10.3892/ol.2021.12484

miR-642 serves as a tumor suppressor in hepatocellular carcinoma by regulating SEMA4C and p38 MAPK signaling pathway.
Authors: Yu Z, Du Y, Li H, Huang J, Jiang D, Fan J, Shen Y, Zhang L, Yu X, Xu N, Ke Q Abstract Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is a malignant tumor with high incidence and high risk. Study of the role and mechanism of miRNAs are a hot spot of research providing new treatment ideas in malignant tumors. The effect of miR-642a on HCC progression and the underlying molecular mechanism were investigated. Expression of miR-642a and SEMA4C was measured by western blot analysis and RT-PCR. miR-642a expression was elevated while SEMA4C expression was attenuated in HCC tissues and cells. Results of luciferase reporter and wes...

Aryl hydrocarbon receptor nuclear translocator promotes the proliferation and invasion of clear cell renal cell carcinoma cells potentially by affecting the glycolytic pathway.
Authors: Zhao Y, Han F, Zhang X, Zhou C, Huang D Abstract Aryl hydrocarbon receptor nuclear translocator (ARNT) is a transcription factor that has been reported to play a vital role in regulating glycolysis, angiogenesis and apoptosis. Recently, ARNT has been reported to a play role in pancreatic-islet function in type 2 diabetes. However, the role of ARNT in kidney cancer has not yet been investigated. In the present study, ARNT expression was detected in tissues from patients with renal cell carcinoma (RCC) and in RCC cell lines. Oncomine, The Cancer Genome Atlas and cBioPortal were used to investigate the roles ...
