miR-940 regulates the inflammatory response of chondrocytes by targeting MyD88 in osteoarthritis.
In conclusion, the pathogenesis of OA can be regulated by miR-940/MyD88 axis, which can be achieved through the combined signaling mechanism of MyD88/NF-κB signaling, induced with the help of IL-1β. PMID: 31435813 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Transforming growth factor β1 promotes fibroblast-like synoviocytes migration and invasion via TGF-β1/Smad signaling in rheumatoid arthritis.
Abstract Migration and invasion are important characteristics of rheumatoid arthritis fibroblast-like synoviocytes (RA-FLSs), which are involved in joint damage and contribute to rheumatoid arthritis (RA) pathology. However, the underlying mechanisms remain unclear. Because epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) is a key mechanism related to migration and invasion in cancer cells, we investigated the relationship between EMT and RA-FLSs and explored whether the transforming growth factor β1 (TGF-β1)/Smad signaling pathway is involved. In vivo, fibroblast-like synoviocytes (FLSs) were isolated from the synovium ...

MiR-19b-3p attenuates IL-1 β induced extracellular matrix degradation and inflammatory injury in chondrocytes by targeting GRK6.
MiR-19b-3p attenuates IL-1β induced extracellular matrix degradation and inflammatory injury in chondrocytes by targeting GRK6. Mol Cell Biochem. 2019 Jun 21;: Authors: Duan L, Duan D, Wei W, Sun Z, Xu H, Guo L, Wu X Abstract Osteoarthritis (OA) is characterized by degradation of articular cartilage. MiRNAs are involved in the regulation of chondrogenesis and OA. We aimed to investigate effects and mechanisms of miR-19b-3p in regulating chondrocytes viability, cartilage degradation and inflammatory response. Primary chondrocytes were isolated from cartilages in control subjects and patients with OA. ...

Methotrexate affects HMGB1 expression in rheumatoid arthritis, and the downregulation of HMGB1 prevents rheumatoid arthritis progression.
This study examined whether HMGB1 might be involved in the treatment of RA using MTX. Synovial tissues were collected from RA patients who were treated with MTX for at least 6 months (RA-MTX group, 7 cases) and from those without MTX treatment (RA-noMTX group, 7 cases). Additionally, patients with osteoarthritis (OA group, 7 cases) were used as controls. The expression and locations of HMGB1 in the tissues were detected using real-time PCR, western blot, and immunohistochemistry. Additionally, OA-fibroblast-like synoviocytes (FLSs) and RA-FLSs were isolated and cultured, and the expression of HMGB1 was reduced in these ce...
