Suppression of human papillomavirus type 16 E5 oncoprotein: A promising step in fostering the treatment of cervical cancer
In this study, we used E5-siRNA to knockdown that essential oncogene and considered the effect of E5 silencing on proliferation, apoptosis, cell cycle, apoptosis-related gene expression, and the initiator of the EGFR signaling pathway in cervical cancer cells. The results demonstrate that E5 plays an essential role in the proliferation and inhibited apoptosis in cervical cancer. Furthermore, silencing E5 reduces proliferation, increases apoptosis, and elevates related-genes expression of these malignant cells. Overall, E5 suppression may be appropriate for ameliorating cervical cancer progression.PMID:37305401 | PMC:PMC102...

EIF5A2 is highly expressed in anaplastic thyroid carcinoma and is associated with tumor growth by modulating TGF- β signals.
EIF5A2 is highly expressed in anaplastic thyroid carcinoma and is associated with tumor growth by modulating TGF-β signals. Oncol Res. 2020 Mar 05;: Authors: Huang Y, Zhu Q, Lu L, Sun S, Hao F, Zhang J, Liu Z, Miao Y, Jiao X, Chen D Abstract Anaplastic thyroid carcinoma (ATC) are resistant to standard therapies and has no effective treatment. Eukaryotic translation initiation factor 5A2 (EIF5A2) has shown to be upregulated inmany malignant tumors and proposed to be a critical gene involved in tumor metastasis. In thisstudy, we aim to investigate the expression status of EIF5A2 in human ATC tissues, an...

Inhibition of proliferation by knockdown of transmembrane (TMEM) 168 in glioblastoma cells via suppression of Wnt/beta-catenin pathway.
Authors: Xu J, Su Z, Ding Q, Shen L, Nie X, Pan X, Yan A, Yan R, Zhou Y, Li L, Lu B Abstract Human glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) accounts for the majority of human brain gliomas. Several TMEM proteins, such as TMEM 45A, TMEM 97, and TMEM 140, are implicated in human brain gliomas. However, the roles of TMEM168 in human GBM remained extremely poor. Herein, we found that mRNA levels of TMEM168 were overexpressed in GBM patients (n = 85) when compared with healthy people (n = 10), which was also supported by data from The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA). KaplanMeier analysis of Gene Expression Omnibus dataset GSE16011 sugg...

PAR2 inhibition enhanced the sensitivity of colorectal cancer cells to 5-FU and reduced EMT signaling.
In this study, we found that protease-activated receptor-2 (PAR2) induction in 5-Fu therapy is correlated with TGF-β-mediated EMT and apoptosis resistance. PAR2 and TGF-β were both activated in response to 5-Fu treatment in vivo and in vitro, and whereas TGF-β inhibition sensitized CRC cells to 5-Fu and suppressed cell migration, PAR2 activation eliminated the effect TGF-β inhibition. Conversely, siRNA-mediated PAR2 depletion or PAR2 inhibition with a specific inhibitor produced a similar phenotype as TGF-β signal inhibition: 5-Fu sensitization and cell-migration suppression. Moreover, the results of xenograft experim...
