Transplantation of IL-1 β siRNA-modified bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells ameliorates type II collagen-induced rheumatoid arthritis in rats
Exp Ther Med. 2022 Feb;23(2):139. doi: 10.3892/etm.2021.11062. Epub 2021 Dec 14.ABSTRACTRheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a chronic autoimmune disease that causes erosion of articular cartilage and bone and has adverse effects on both patients and livestock animals. The aim of the present study was to investigate the role of interleukin-1β (IL-1β) in the pathogenesis of RA, and to further determine whether injection of IL-1β small interfering RNA (siRNA) or transplantation of IL-1β siRNA + bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (BMSCs) can ameliorate RA in rats. A collagen-induced arthritis (CIA) rat model was established by in...

Role and mechanism of miR-144-5p in LPS-induced macrophages.
In conclusion, the data from the present study suggested that miR-144-5p overexpression reduced THP-1 macrophage cell viability and inhibited the expression of TNF-α, IL-6 and IL-8 in cells, possibly by inhibiting the expression of TLR2 and suppressing the activation of NK-κB signaling. Therefore, miR-144-5p may serve as a novel therapeutic target for the treatment of RA. PMID: 31853295 [PubMed]

Roles of microRNA-539 and osteopontin in rheumatoid arthritis.
Authors: Liu Y, Qian K, Li C, Ma Y, Chen X Abstract The present study aimed to investigate the role and mechanism of microRNA-539 (miR-539) in rheumatoid arthritis (RA). A total of 68 RA patients and 46 osteoarthritis patients were enrolled into the current study. Peripheral blood and joint fluid were collected prior to treatment. Reverse transcription-quantitative polymerase chain reaction was performed to detect osteopontin (OPN) mRNA and miR-539 expression levels, while ELISA and western blot analysis were applied to detect OPN protein expression. In addition, bioinformatics analysis predicted that miR-539 direc...
