Impact of eIF4E phosphorylation at Ser209 via MNK2a on tumour recurrence after curative surgery in localized clear cell renal cell carcinoma.
Conclusions: MNK2a-induced eIF4E phosphorylation may suppress metastatic recurrence of ccRCC, partially due to vimentin downregulation at the translational level, consequently leading to inhibition of epithelial-mesenchymal transition. PMID: 31258849 [PubMed]

MicroRNA-93 inhibits apoptosis and promotes proliferation, invasion and migration of renal cell carcinoma ACHN cells via the TGF- β/Smad signaling pathway by targeting RUNX3.
In conclusion, miR-93 inhibits apoptosis and promotes proliferation, invasion, and migration of RCC cells via TGF-β/Smad signaling by inhibiting RUNX3. PMID: 28804566 [PubMed]

Potential biomarkers for the therapeutic efficacy of sorafenib, sunitinib and everolimus.
We examined extracellular signal‑regulated kinase (ERK), 4E‑binding protein 1 (4EBP1) and p70 ribosomal S6 kinase (p70) as potential biomarkers for pretreatment prediction of the prognosis of patients with metastatic renal cell carcinoma (RCC) treated with sorafenib, sunitinib or everolimus. 786‑O and 769‑P cells were treated with sorafenib, sunitinib and everolimus. The expression of phosphorylated/total ERK, phosphorylated/total 4EBP1 and phosphorylated/total p70 was evaluated using western blotting. ERK, 4EBP1 and p70 were knocked down by siRNA in 786‑O and 769‑P cells. Then, the viability after treatment ...
