Blood Pressure Meds vs Blood Thinners: What ’ s The Difference?
Conclusion In conclusion, while blood pressure medicines and blood thinners are both crucial to heart health, their roles and mechanisms of action are notably distinct. Blood pressure medication works primarily on the vascular system, aiding in reducing blood pressure by relaxing blood vessels or altering the heart’s function. On the other hand, blood thinners target the blood itself, working to prevent the formation of potentially dangerous blood clots. How John Fetterman Came Out of the Darkness
When he looks back on the past year—a year in which he nearly died, became a U.S. Senator, and nearly died again—it is the debate that John Fetterman identifies as the breaking point. “The debate lit the mitch,” he says, then shakes his head in frustration and tries again. Oct. 25, 2022: the date is lodged in his mind. “I knew I had to do it,” he tells me. “I knew that the vote...

Progress in Pathological and Therapeutic Research of HIV-Related Neuropathic Pain
In this study, we conducted a systematic review of the progress of HRNP research in recent years including (1) the etiology, classification and clinical symptoms of HRNP, (2) the establishment of HRNP pathological models, (3) the pathological mechanisms underlying HRNP from three aspects: molecules, signaling pathways and cells, (4) the therapeutic strategies for HRNP, and (5) the limitations of recent HRNP research and the future research directions and prospects of HRNP. This detailed review provides new and systematic insight into the pathological mechanism of HRNP, which establishes a theoretical basis for the future e...

Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension: Unraveling Its Impact On Heart And Lungs
Conclusion Navigating the complexities of Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension (PAH) might seem daunting. However, with the right knowledge and proactive approach, it’s possible to manage the condition and maintain a good quality of life. PAH, a unique type of high blood pressure affecting the arteries in the lungs, can put extra strain on the heart. Over time, this can lead to heart failure. The condition’s root cause may vary, from genetic factors to other health issues like heart defects, liver disease, or autoimmune diseases. Remember, sometimes the cause remains unknown, resulting in idiopathic pulmonary ...

Systematic review of the values and preferences regarding the use of injectable pre-exposure prophylaxis to prevent HIV acquisition
CONCLUSIONS: Given overall acceptability, injectable PrEP should be included as part of a menu of prevention options, allowing end-users to select the modality that suits their preferences, needs and lifestyle.PMID:37439057 | DOI:10.1002/jia2.26107

U.S. patient preferences for long-acting HIV treatment: a discrete choice experiment
CONCLUSIONS: PWH in the United States may soon have several options for LA-ART. Our results suggest that LA oral tablets will be preferred by many patients over their current daily oral treatment, while implants and injections with longer duration may be acceptable to some. Future research should investigate sources of preference heterogeneity and actual uptake of and adherence to LA-ART products, when available.PMID:37439051 | PMC:PMC10338996 | DOI:10.1002/jia2.26099
