Association of pain neurophysiology knowledge and application amongst UK chiropractic students: A cross-sectional study
CONCLUSION: Chiropractic placement students in the United Kingdom appear to have a lower level of pain knowledge than other health care professionals and education institutions may wish to consider how to best address this within their curricula.PMID:37721388 | DOI:10.7899/JCE-22-27

Risk factors for recurrence of post-dural puncture headache following an epidural blood patch: a retrospective cohort study
Neuraxial analgesia and anaesthesia is widely used to control pain during labour and delivery. Approximately 55% of women in the United Kingdom, 60% in Canada, 65% in the United States of America (USA) and 82% in France give birth under neuraxial anaesthesia.1 –4 One of the most common and serious complications is post-dural puncture headache (PDPH). 5 This occurs in 0.38-6.3% of neuraxial procedures6–9 and is a common cause of litigation in the USA.10 Post-dural puncture headache causes severe discomfort and can lead, in some circumstances, to second ary brain injuries.

Exploring the pain and disability continuum in adolescents with non-traumatic anterior knee pain: a mediation analysis using individual participant data of prospective studies
CONCLUSION: We found an effect of pain on sports-related disability at 6 months which appears to be independent of lower extremity muscle strength, or depression/anxiety and knee confidence in adolescents with non-traumatic anterior knee pain.PMID:37699655 | DOI:10.1136/bjsports-2023-107177

SpaceOAR hydrogel distribution and early complications in patients undergoing radiation therapy for prostate cancer
CONCLUSIONS: Transperineal hydrogel placement separates the prostate from the rectum with a symmetrical distribution in the majority of cases prior to radiation therapy with a low rate of rectal wall injection and immediate complications.ADVANCES IN KNOWLEDGE: SpaceOAR hydrogel can be safely injected into radiation naive patients with low or intermediate-risk organ-confined prostate cancer. The spacer separates the prostate from the rectum with a symmetrical distribution in the majority of cases prior to radiation therapy.PMID:37660394 | DOI:10.1259/bjr.20220947

How Are Age, Gender, and Country Differences Associated With PROMIS Physical Function, Upper Extremity, and Pain Interference Scores?
CONCLUSION: Our study provides age-, gender-, and country-specific reference values for PROMIS PF, UE, and PI scores, which can be used by clinicians, researchers, and healthcare policymakers to better interpret patient-reported outcomes and provide more personalized care. These findings are particularly relevant for those collecting patient-reported outcomes in their clinical routine and researchers conducting multinational studies. We provide an internet application (www.common-metrics.org/PROMIS_PF_and_PI_Reference_scores.php) for user-friendly accessibility in order to perform age, gender, and country conversions of PR...
