The spectrum of manifestations of primary hyperparathyroidism in children and adolescents
CONCLUSIONS: Our study showed the spectrum of manifestations of PHPT in children and adolescents and outcomes of parathyroidectomy till one year. Long-term follow-up studies with bigger cohorts are required to understand the true nature of the disease in children and adolescents.PMID:35942826 | DOI:10.5114/pedm.2022.118315

Lack of COL6/collagen VI causes megakaryocyte dysfunction by impairing autophagy and inducing apoptosis
Autophagy. 2022 Jul 20:1-16. doi: 10.1080/15548627.2022.2100105. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTEndoplasmic reticulum stress is an emerging significant player in the molecular pathology of connective tissue disorders. In response to endoplasmic reticulum stress, cells can upregulate macroautophagy/autophagy, a fundamental cellular homeostatic process used by cells to degrade and recycle proteins or remove damaged organelles. In these scenarios, autophagy activation can support cell survival. Here we demonstrated by in vitro and in vivo approaches that megakaryocytes derived from col6a1-⁄- (collagen, type VI, alpha 1) null...

CALA: Cumulative Volume of Calcified Lesions of the Aorta in Cardiac Surgery
Thorac Cardiovasc Surg. 2022 Jul 11. doi: 10.1055/s-0042-1748194. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTOne of the major key questions raised in this retrospective study was to identify any correlation of atherosclerotic plaque volume of the ascending aorta and aortic arch with adverse events such as postoperative stroke, critical illness polyneuropathy and myopathy, as well as delirium and all-cause in-hospital mortality. In a second phase of this study, we investigated the relationship between atherosclerotic plaque volume and adverse events regarding the construction of proximal anastomosis on coronary artery bypass grafting pr...
