Efficacy of Individualized Homeopathic Medicines in the Treatment of Menopausal Syndrome: Double-Blind, Randomized, Placebo-Controlled Trial

Recommendations of the committee on complementary medicine and nutrition in ayurvedic medicine, homeopathy, nutrition and Mediterranean diet
Z Rheumatol. 2023 May 22. doi: 10.1007/s00393-023-01356-z. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTMethods of complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) are appealing for many patients with rheumatic diseases. The scientific data are currently characterized by a large number of publications that stand in contrast to a remarkable shortage of valid clinical studies. The applications of CAM procedures are situated in an area of conflict between efforts for an evidence-based medicine and high-quality therapeutic concepts on the one hand and ill-founded or even dubious offers on the other hand. In 2021 the German Society of Rheumatolog...

Utilization of complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) by women with breast cancer or gynecological cancer
ConclusionOur data support the findings of previous studies and highlight the need to develop a consistent CAM definition with respect to comparability and evaluation of CAM services. More longitudinal studies are desirable to establish viable associations between CAM use and relevant outcomes such as QoL or disease management.

Complementary and alternative medicine-An option for chronic pain patients?
Schmerz. 2023 May 8. doi: 10.1007/s00482-023-00719-4. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTThe interest of patients with chronic pain in complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) is high. The aim of an accompanying complementary therapy is to strengthen the patient's self-efficacy, the ability to make decisions and the autonomy. The best evidence exists for physical activity and a balanced diet. Exercise combinations of strength and endurance as well as targeted strengthening of the muscles in the area of the pain are particularly suitable. When choosing the form of exercise, low-threshold training options are recommended. The...

Is the Doctor Who Cures Right? Or Should We Look for Black Swans? Complementary Aspects of Homeopathy's Scientific Identity
Homœopathic Links DOI: 10.1055/s-0043-57013Popper's point of view that a hypothesis can only be proven wrong by finding one counter-instance and that confirmation is unscientific is widely acknowledged. In medicine, however, we can only optimise the probability that a therapy works. For this we have to search for counter-instances for our existing ideas. The inclusion of a medicine in a repertory symptom-rubric when the symptom is seen in a cured case is wrong. This biased idea could be replaced by the Bayesian likelihood ratio (LR).LR can be assessed by prognostic factor research (PFR) using data collection by homeopathi...

Adv Mind Body Med. 2023 Winter;37(1):17-21.ABSTRACTPolycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) is a common lifestyle disorder that has become a major international public health concern affecting young women of reproductive age. Homeopathy aims to provide an individual with optimal health on all levels-emotional, mental, physical and spiritual.
