Psychological effects of the COVID-19 pandemic - what do we know about them?
Eur Rev Med Pharmacol Sci. 2023 Jul;27(13):6445-6458. doi: 10.26355/eurrev_202307_33006.ABSTRACTThe coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic was a shock to the whole world. This pandemic caused not only many deaths of people of all ages and health effects that are still difficult to assess, but also economic, and psychological ones. Distinct Features of Vascular Diseases in COVID-19
J Inflamm Res. 2023 Jul 6;16:2783-2800. doi: 10.2147/JIR.S417691. eCollection 2023.ABSTRACTThe Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic was declared in early 2020 after several unexplained pneumonia cases were first reported in Wuhan, China, and subsequently in other parts of the world. Commonly, the disease comprises several clinical features, including high temperature, dry cough, shortness of breath, and hypoxia, associated with findings of interstitial pneumonia on chest X-ray and computer tomography. Nevertheless, severe forms of acute respiratory syndrome-related coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) are not limited to the ...

Adherence to oral endocrine therapy in racial/ethnic minority patients with low socioeconomic status before and during the COVID-19 pandemic
CONCLUSION: OET adherence was significantly reduced during the COVID-19 pandemic in racial/ethnic minority patients with low SES. Patient-centered interventions are necessary to improve OET adherence in these patients.PMID:37380914 | DOI:10.1007/s11096-023-01609-6

Tracheal stenosis and airway complications in the Coronavirus Disease-19 era
CONCLUSIONS: The incidence of tracheal stenosis may increase as patients recover from severe COVID-19 infection requiring intubation. Management of tracheal stenosis with TRR is safe and effective, with comparable rates of success to TRR for non-COVID-19 tracheal stenosis. Non-resection-based management is an option to manage tracheal stenosis in patients with less severe stenosis or in poor surgical candidates.PMID:37360840 | PMC:PMC10246306 | DOI:10.1016/j.atssr.2023.05.013

Impact of the gut microbiota on angiotensin Ⅱ-related disorders and its mechanisms
Biochem Pharmacol. 2023 Jun 15:115659. doi: 10.1016/j.bcp.2023.115659. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTThe renin-angiotensin system (RAS) consists of multiple angiotensin peptides and performs various biological functions mediated by distinct receptors. Angiotensin II (Ang II) is the major effector of the RAS and affects the occurrence and development of inflammation, diabetes mellitus and its complications, hypertension, and end-organ damage via the Ang II type 1 receptor. Recently, considerable interest has been given to the association and interaction between the gut microbiota and host. Increasing evidence suggests that ...
