The minimal important difference of the epistaxis severity score in hereditary hemorrhagic telangiectasia
ConclusionUsing both the anchor‐based and distribution‐based approaches, the estimated MID for the ESS in HHT is 0.71. Further implications include key metrics to help guide treatment responses in clinical care and essential information to calculate power and sample size for future clinical trials. A golden experience: Fifty years of experience managing the frontal sinus
ConclusionSurgery of the frontal sinus continues to evolve and improve. Although there are new techniques, the older techniques are still pertinent. Laryngoscope, 2015

Foot‐controlled robotic‐enabled endoscope holder for endoscopic sinus surgery: A cadaveric feasibility study
ConclusionThe FREE endoscope holder in an ex‐vivo cadaver test corroborated the feasibility of the robotic prototype, which allows for a two‐handed approach to surgery equal to a single nostril three‐handed technique without the holder that may reduce operating time. Further studies will be needed to evaluate its safety profile and use in other areas of endoscopic surgery. Level of EvidenceNA. Laryngoscope, 126:566–569, 2016

Surgical risk factors for recurrence of inverted papilloma
ConclusionsDrilling, cauterizing, or completely excising the bone underlying the tumor base during endoscopic resection reduces the recurrence rate of inverted and oncocytic papilloma, when compared to mucosal stripping alone. Surgeons who perform endoscopic resection of these tumors should consider utilization of these techniques when possible. Level of Evidence4 Laryngoscope, 2015

An evaluation of the severity and progression of epistaxis in hereditary hemorrhagic telangiectasia 1 versus hereditary hemorrhagic telangiectasia 2
ConclusionsHHT2 is associated with more severe epistaxis and a subsequent higher rate of interventions, requiring more aggressive therapy as compared to HHT1. Level of Evidence4 Laryngoscope, 2015

Alternaria and Cladosporium calendar of Western Thrace: Relationship with allergic rhinitis symptoms
ConclusionsWe found Cladosporium to be the most frequently detected airborne mould, whereas Alternaria was the most prevalent with regard to sensitization rate. Patients' symptoms score was significantly correlated to spore concentrations. Both fungi were clearly affected by climate factors, such as temperature and relative humidity. These findings are important in AR management. Level of EvidenceN/A. Laryngoscope, 2015

Productivity costs decrease after endoscopic sinus surgery for refractory chronic rhinosinusitis
ConclusionsDaily productivity is negatively impacted by the presence of CRS. The outcomes from this study provide the first insights into the reduced productivity costs associated with receiving ESS for refractory CRS. Future studies with larger sample sizes will need to validate the results from this pilot study. Level of Evidence2c Laryngoscope, 2015

The impact of surgical trainee participation on sinus surgery outcomes
ConclusionsTrainee participation in ESS is associated with prolongation in surgical time; however, such participation was not found to adversely affect patient safety or clinical outcomes. Level of Evidence2b Laryngoscope, 2015

Challenges in the Management of Inverted Papilloma: A Review of 72 Revision Cases
ConclusionThe most important factors in preventing the recurrence of inverted papilloma are the determination of the location of the attachment and the completeness of resection in the primary endoscopic surgery. Revision cases have a higher recurrence rate, and the attachment sites are surgically more challenging. The use of 5‐FU might have a place in the postoperative treatment of surgically challenging inverted papilloma. Level of Evidence4. Laryngoscope, 2015

Characteristics of patients treated for orbital cellulitis: An analysis of inpatient data
ConclusionThis study describes the characteristics of pediatric and adult patients admitted for orbital cellulitis from a national perspective. Patients 10 to 19 years of age were most likely to undergo surgical management. Acute and chronic sinusitis, acute osteomyelitis, exophthalmos, diplopia, and conjunctival edema were concomitant diagnoses associated with significantly increased odds ratio of surgical intervention. Endoscopic sinus surgery for chronic rhinosinusitis in patients previously treated for sinonasal malignancy
ConclusionFor patients previously treated for sinonasal malignancy with refractory CRS, ESS appears to be a safe and effective treatment option. ESS in these patients results in subjective improvement in sinonasal symptoms as well as objective improvement in radiographic CRS disease burden, although sinonasal crusting will likely not resolve. Endoscopic surgery of the orbital apex: Outcomes and emerging techniques
ConclusionsThe endoscopic approach to the orbit apex offers significant advantages over traditional external approaches, and should be the preferred approach for all medial and inferior lesions. A two‐surgeon multihanded technique can help facilitate difficult cases. Level of Evidence4. Laryngoscope, 2015
