Eosinophilic gastrointestinal disorders (EGIDs) are rare chronic conditions comprising eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE), eosinophilic gastritis (EoG), eosinophilic gastroenteritis (EoGE), and eosinophilic colitis (EoC). The nonesophageal gastrointestinal disorders —EoG, EoGE, and EoC—are under-studied relative to EoE, but recent data suggest that their prevalence is increasing. In EoG/EoGE, eosinophils infiltrate the gastric and/or intestinal tissue. Multiple bowel layers (mucosal, submucosal, serosal) may be involved.
