The concentration of pesticides in tomato: a global systematic review, meta-analysis, and health risk assessment
Environ Sci Pollut Res Int. 2023 Sep 12. doi: 10.1007/s11356-023-29645-9. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTTo improve farming productivity, a large number of pesticides have been used worldwide in recent decades, leading to the pollution of soil, agri-products, and water, directly/indirectly affecting human health. In this regard, many studies were conducted in different countries on residual pesticides in the environment. In the current study, residual pesticides including chlorpyrifos, cypermethrin, diazinon, malathion, and metalaxyl in tomatoes were meta-analyzed and health risk of consumers was estimated. For this purpose...

Detection of Genes Related to Linezolid Resistance ( < em > poxtA < /em > , < em > cfr < /em > , and < em > optrA < /em > ) in Clinical Isolates of < em > Enterococcus spp < /em > . from Humans: A First Report from Iran
CONCLUSION: This is the first study to report the detection of linezolid resistance genes (cfr, optrA, and poxtA) in clinical Enterococcus spp. isolates from Iran, conducted at Isfahan University of Medical Sciences hospitals. The emergence of enterococcal strains that resist linezolid is concerning as it can lead to the spread of resistant strains among patients, resulting in treatment failure.PMID:37694234 | PMC:PMC10492618 | DOI:10.4103/abr.abr_74_23

Comparison of Blood Lead Levels in Children and Adolescents with and without Functional Abdominal Pain
CONCLUSION: We found that the lead level was higher in patients with FGID than in the controls; however, this difference was not significantly different. This might be because of elevated lead levels in both groups. Future ecological studies with a large sample size are necessary in this regard.PMID:37694233 | PMC:PMC10492617 | DOI:10.4103/abr.abr_250_22

Two Distinct Deleterious Causative Variants in a Family with Multiple Cancer-Affected Patients
CONCLUSION: Herein, we interestingly identify two distinct deleterious causative variants (CHEK2: NM_007194.4: c.538C>T, p.Arg180Cys and MLH1: NM_000249.4, c.844G>A, p.Ala282Thr) in a family with several cancer-affected members. Furthermore, this study's findings established the utility of WES in the genetic diagnostics of cancer.PMID:37694253 | PMC:PMC10492615 | DOI:10.4103/abr.abr_366_22

Geographical Distribution of Colorectal Cancer in Southwestern Iran Between Years 2011 and 2019
CONCLUSION: The cumulative incidence of colorectal cancer is relatively high in Khuzestan province. The cumulative incidence of the disease was higher in the central regions of the province than in other regions. Also, based on geographical areas, the cumulative incidence of the disease was higher in areas with arid climates, the average rainfall was 100-200 mm, and in areas with agricultural land use.PMID:37681264 | DOI:10.5152/tjg.2023.22666

Human biomonitoring and reference values of urinary 1-hydroxypyrene among Iranian adults population
Environ Sci Pollut Res Int. 2023 Sep 8. doi: 10.1007/s11356-023-29208-y. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTPolycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) are one of the most important environmental pollutants. Urinary concentrations of 1-hydropyren metabolites of PAHs have been used as biomarkers of these chemicals' exposure in humans. This cross-sectional study was conducted on 468 healthy Iranian adults over 25 years old and non-smokers in six provinces who were selected based on the clustering method. Fasting urine sampling and body composition and demographic measurements were performed. Urine samples were analyzed by GC-MS. The ...
