Ending Constipation from Suboxone and Buprenorphine
Constipation is one of the few potential side effects caused by buprenorphine medications, including Suboxone Film and Zubsolv. Fortunately, ‘binding up’ can be managed by making minor changes to your lifestyle. Constipation from buprenorphine is caused by activation of mu opioid receptors in the small and large intestine, reducing the sequential squeezing and relaxation (called peristalsis) that pushes bowel contents forward. All opioids have similar effects, mimicking our natural endorphins throughout the body. Endorphins are released during trauma to naturally block pain and to divert blood flow to areas ...

Thematic Analysis of Reddit Content About Buprenorphine-naloxone Using Manual Annotation and Natural Language Processing Techniques
Conclusions Discussions on Reddit are rich in information about buprenorphine-naloxone. Information derived from analysis of Reddit posts about buprenorphine-naloxone may not be available elsewhere and may help providers improve treatment of people with OUD through better understanding of the experiences of people who have used buprenorphine-naloxone.

Leptin status alters buprenorphine-induced antinociception in obese mice with dysfunctional leptin receptors
Publication date: 1 November 2017 Source:Neuroscience Letters, Volume 660 Author(s): Zachary Glovak, Sara Mihalko, Helen A. Baghdoyan, Ralph Lydic Buprenorphine is an opiate used for pain management and to treat opiate addiction. The cytokine leptin can modulate nociception, but the extent to which buprenorphine-induced antinociception varies as a function of leptin signaling has not been characterized. Four congenic mouse lines with phenotypes that include differences in body weight and leptin status were used to test the hypothesis that the antinociceptive effects of buprenorphine vary as function of sex and leptin sign...

Buprenorphine Depresses Respiratory Variability in Obese Mice with Altered Leptin Signaling
Conclusions The results support the interpretation that leptin status but not body weight or sex contributed to the buprenorphine-induced decrease in minute ventilation. Poincar é plots illustrate that the buprenorphine-induced decrease in minute ventilation variability was greatest in mice with impaired leptin signaling. This is relevant because normal respiratory variability is essential for martialing a compensatory response to ventilatory challenges imposed by disease, obesity, and surgical stress.

Visual Search Asymmetry: Deep Nets and Humans Share Similar Inherent Biases
This study highlights how classical perceptual properties can emerge in neural network models, without the need for task-specific training, but rather as a consequence of the statistical properties of the developmental diet fed to the model. An interview with Reyna Favis, author of Soul Search
Hi everyone, and this week I’d like to introduce Reyna Favis to the Thursday Throng. Reyna spent more than a dozen years as a drug development genomics scientist before turning to write fiction full-time. Her previous publishing history includes scholarly articles. When not writing, she responds to callouts as a canine handler for search and rescue. She lives in Warren County New Jersey with her husband, a search dog and a coterie of pets. What is one thing that no-one would usually know about you? I used to work for corporate America and I once gave a presentation where the introductory slide borrowed heavily fro...
