Effectiveness Of Interventions Aimed At Changing Movement Patterns In People With Patellofemoral Pain: A Systematic Review With Network Meta-Analysis
CONCLUSION: Knee/hip exercises combined with internal feedback techniques may change knee and hip movements in people with PFP. The combination of these interventions can reduce frontal knee and hip movements, and can increase sagittal knee movements.PMID:37707784 | DOI:10.2519/jospt.2023.11956

Pros and cons of using artificial intelligence Chatbots for musculoskeletal rehabilitation management
J Orthop Sports Phys Ther. 2023 Sep 14:1-17. doi: 10.2519/jospt.2023.12000. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTSynopsis: Artificial intelligence (AI), specifically Large Language Models (LLMs), which focus on the interaction between computers and human language, can influence musculoskeletal rehabilitation management. AI chatbots (e.g., ChatGPT, Microsoft Bing, Google Bard) are a form of LLMs designed to understand, interpret, and generate text similar to what is produced by humans. Since their release, chatbots have triggered controversy in the international scientific community, including when they have passed university exam...

Age Is Not Just a Number: The Intersection of Age, Orthopedic Injuries, and Worsening Outcomes Following Low-Energy Falls
CONCLUSIONS: Fall prevention interventions, while applicable to all older adult patients, could improve outcomes by offering additional resources particularly for individuals between 70 and 80 years of age. These additional resources can help minimize excessive hospitalizations, prolonged lengths of stay, and the detrimental complications that frequently coincide with falls. Although hip fractures are the most common fracture as patients get older, other fractures still occur with frequency, and fall prevention strategies should account for prevention of these injuries as well.PMID:37703046 | DOI:10.1519/JPT.0000000000000395

Efficacy of combined ultrasound-guided hydrodilatation with hyaluronic acid and physical therapy in patients with adhesive capsulitis: A randomised controlled trial
CONCLUSION: The combination of ultrasound-guided hydrodilatation with hyaluronic acid in conjunction with physical therapy provides additional benefits compared to physical therapy alone for the treatment of adhesive capsulitis at up to 12 weeks.TRIAL REGISTRATION: ClinicalTrials.gov: NCT02708706.PMID:37697666 | DOI:10.1177/02692155231200089

An early care void: The injury experience and perceptions of treatment among knee-injured individuals and healthcare professionals - A qualitative interview study
CONCLUSION: Early care for knee-injured individuals is filled with worries and unmet emotional and information support needs. HCPs need more support and training to deliver timely and appropriate care.PMID:37696196 | DOI:10.1016/j.ptsp.2023.08.006

Association between Hospital Participation in Value-Based Programs and Timely Initiation of Post-Acute Home Health Care, Functional Recovery, and Hospital Readmission after Joint Replacement
CONCLUSION: Hospital participation in bundled payments for care improvement or comprehensive care for joint replacement was associated with early home health rehabilitation care initiation, which was further associated with significant increases in functional recovery and lower risks of hospital readmission.IMPACT: Policy makers may consider incentivizing health care providers to initiate early home health services and care coordination in value-based payment models.PMID:37694820 | DOI:10.1093/ptj/pzad123
