Isokinetic Training Program to Improve the Physical Function and Muscular Performance of an Individual with Partial Injury of the Medial Meniscus: A Case Report
DISCUSSION: The results showed that the isokinetic training and neuromuscular/proprioceptive exercises improved the muscle performance of the knee flexors and extensors, after eleven weeks of intervention, and remained (or continued to improve) at the six-month follow-up.LEVEL OF EVIDENCE: 5, single case report.PMID:37636894 | PMC:PMC10449488 | DOI:10.26603/001c.74945

Do patients undergoing physical therapy in a rehabilitation center have a high prevalence of pelvic floor dysfunction and psychological disorders? A cross-sectional study
CONCLUSION: This study found a high prevalence of PFD symptoms in patients attending a Rehabilitation Center. All symptoms except fecal incontinence were more prevalent in females than in males. There was a weak correlation between UI with QoL and psychological disorders among females.PMID:37639944 | DOI:10.1016/j.bjpt.2023.100536

Effectiveness and Users' Perceptions of Upper Extremity Exoskeletons and Robot-Assisted Devices in Children with Physical Disabilities: Systematic Review
Conclusions: Across populations, devices, settings, interventions, and dosing schedules, UE exoskeletons and robot-assisted devices may improve function, activity, and perhaps participation for children with physical disabilities. Future work should transition devices into natural environments, design devices and implementation strategies to address users' negative perceptions, and increase research rigor.PMID:37635151 | DOI:10.1080/01942638.2023.2248241

Test-retest reliability of movement-evoked pain and sensitivity to movement-evoked pain in patients with rotator cuff-related shoulder pain
CONCLUSION: This study confirms movement-evoked pain testing during active shoulder abduction to the onset of pain or maximum ROM condition is reliable to assess pain associated with movement in patients with RCRSP. The minimal detectable change score of movement-evoked pain can guide clinicians and researchers on how to interpret changes in these outcomes.PMID:37633094 | DOI:10.1016/j.bjpt.2023.100535

The journal's mission was to publish scientifically rigorous content and promote its application to movement-related health. In 1979, we were focused solely on 1 journal, and the publishing organization shared the journal's name. In the decades since, our organization has grown such that it now publishes 3 peer-reviewed journals and provides plenty o...

Preventing Suicide: It Is Time to Mobilize the Physical Therapy Workforce
Phys Ther. 2023 Aug 25:pzad116. doi: 10.1093/ptj/pzad116. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTEach year, approximately 700,000 people, including 46,000 Americans, die by suicide; however, many more people experience suicidal thoughts and behaviors. Historically, the prevention of suicide has largely been the domain of mental health professionals working within specialist mental health care settings. An issue with this approach is that many individuals who experience suicidal ideation never disclose these thoughts to a mental health professional. The nonprofessional and paraprofessional mental health movement aims to bring suicid...
