Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) for Depersonalization Derealization Disorder (DDD): a self-controlled cross-over study of waiting list vs. active treatment
We report on a clinical audit of 36 participants with a diagnosis of chronic DDD who were sequentially recruited from a specialist DDD National Health Service clinic in London, United Kingdom, and who completed Cognitive Behavioural Therapy specifically adapted for DDD. The sample population had a mean age of 38.7 years (s.d. = 13.4), 61% were male and 69% were of White ethnicity. Three outcomes were assessed (Cambridge Depersonalisation Scale [CDS], Beck Depression Inventory [BDI], and the Beck Anxiety Inventory [BAI]) at three time points in a naturalistic, self-controlled, cross-over design. Hierarchical longitudinal an...

Machine learning to predict outcomes following endovascular abdominal aortic aneurysm repair
CONCLUSIONS: In this data set, machine learning was able to predict 1-year mortality following EVAR using preoperative data and outperformed standard logistic regression models.PMID:37710397 | DOI:10.1093/bjs/znad287

Nanotopography by chromatic confocal microscopy of the endothelium in Fuchs endothelial corneal dystrophy, pseudophakic bullous keratopathy and healthy corneas
CONCLUSIONS: CCM is an innovative approach to describe and quantify different morphologies of guttae. It could be useful to analyse the different stages of FECD and define subgroups of patients.PMID:37714683 | DOI:10.1136/bjo-2023-323297

Beliefs about emotions predict psychological stress related to somatic symptoms
CONCLUSIONS: BECU as a malleable way of thinking about emotions predicted psychological distress related to somatic symptoms in general-population panel-participants and correlated with the same in two clinical replication samples. BECU thus becomes a promising treatment target in psychotherapeutic approaches.PMID:37706588 | DOI:10.1111/bjc.12438

Promoting the systematic use of real-world data and real-world evidence for digital health technologies across Europe: a consensus framework
Health Econ Policy Law. 2023 Sep 14:1-16. doi: 10.1017/S1744133123000208. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTDespite the acceleration in the use of digital health technologies across different aspects of the healthcare system, the full potential of real-world data (RWD) and real-world evidence (RWE) arising from the technologies is not being utilised in decision-making. We examine current national efforts and future opportunities to systematically use RWD and RWE in decision-making in five countries (Estonia, Finland, Germany, Italy and the United Kingdom), and then develop a framework for promotion of the systematic use of RWD...
