Left epigastric isolated tumor fed by the inferior phrenic artery diagnosed as ectopic hepatocellular carcinoma: A case report
CONCLUSION: This asymptomatic ectopic HCC case described achieved an excellent result due to early detection, radical resection, and systematic surveillance.PMID:37731571 | PMC:PMC10507550 | DOI:10.12998/wjcc.v11.i26.6231

Olaparib plus abiraterone versus placebo plus abiraterone in metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (PROpel): final prespecified overall survival results of a randomised, double-blind, phase 3 trial
This study is registered with ClinicalTrials.gov, NCT03732820, and is completed and no longer recruiting.FINDINGS: Between Oct 31, 2018 and March 11, 2020, 1103 patients were screened, of whom 399 were randomly assigned to olaparib plus abiraterone and 397 to placebo plus abiraterone. Median follow-up for overall survival in patients with censored data was 36·6 months (IQR 34·1-40·3) for olaparib plus abiraterone and 36·5 months (33·8-40·3) for placebo plus abiraterone. Median overall survival was 42·1 months (95% CI 38·4-not reached) with olaparib plus abiraterone and 34·7 months (31·0-39·3) with placebo plus a...

Treatment Variation and Long-Term Outcomes of Low-Grade Appendiceal Neoplasms
CONCLUSIONS: Significant variation exists in treatment patterns for LAMNs, particularly prior to referral to a high-volume center. Patients frequently underwent colectomy without apparent oncologic benefit. In the current era of high-quality cross sectional imaging, routine use of DL has low yield and is not recommended. Recurrence in this population is rare, and low-intensity surveillance can be offered. Overall prognosis is excellent, even with peritoneal disease.PMID:37702905 | DOI:10.1245/s10434-023-13501-8

Predicting successful clinical candidates for fiducial-free lung tumor tracking with a deep learning binary classification model
CONCLUSIONS: A deep learning model can distinguish features of trackable and untrackable lesions in DRR images, and can predict successful candidates for fiducial-free lung tumor tracking.PMID:37696265 | DOI:10.1002/acm2.14146

A retrospective study of sinonasal tumors in 182 dogs treated with stereotactic radiotherapy (3  × 10 Gy) (2010-2015)
CONCLUSIONS AND CLINICAL IMPORTANCE: Results are comparable to other reports of treatment of SRT. Acute morbidities were minimal. Modified Adams stage scheme appeared to be inappropriate for prognostication for dogs with sinonasal tumors treated with SRT.PMID:37688322 | DOI:10.1111/jvim.16838

Fracture healing in a polytrauma rat model is influenced by mtDNA:cGAS complex mediated pro-inflammation
CONCLUSIONS: These data reveal that the cGAS-STING signaling pathway influences trauma-induced delayed bone healing. However, further evaluation of this pathway at the cellular and molecular levels to augment PT associated detrimental effects is needed.PMID:37656236 | DOI:10.1186/s40634-023-00637-5

Nodular Pulmonary Amyloidosis Preceding Gastric Mucosa-associated Lymphoid Tissue Lymphoma, Initially Suspected to Be Lung Cancer
In this report, we describe a case of a 76-year-old male who presented with a solitary nodule in his left lower lung lobe on computed tomography that increased from 6 mm to 13 mm in diameter over 40 months. Lung cancer was suspected; however, transbronchial lung biopsy revealed deposition of an eosinophilic and homogeneous amorphous substance, which showed apple-green birefringence under polarized light after Congo red staining, and immunohistochemistry analysis returned positive results for immunoglobulin lambda light-chain. Upper gastrointestinal endoscopy revealed a gastric mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue (MALT) lymph...

Combined RAF and MEK Inhibition to Treat Activated Non-V600 BRAF-Altered Advanced Cancers
CONCLUSION: Combined RAF and MEK inhibition does not sufficiently inhibit activated non-V600 BRAF-mutant tumors in patients.PMID:37616543 | DOI:10.1093/oncolo/oyad247

Interstitial lung abnormalities after hospitalization for COVID-19 in patients with cancer: A prospective cohort study
CONCLUSIONS: Post-COVID-19 ILAs are common in cancer patients 3 months after hospital discharge, and peak RSI and older age are strong predictors of persistent ILAs.PMID:37592894 | DOI:10.1002/cam4.6396

Randomized Phase II Multicenter Trial of Abiraterone Acetate With or Without Cabazitaxel in the Treatment of Metastatic Castration-Resistant Prostate Cancer
CONCLUSION: AAP + C was safe with improved rPFS, OS duration, and a higher proportion of PSA declines. This suggests that AAP + C given earlier rather than sequentially may benefit some men. Further work is needed to identify this population.PMID:37582240 | DOI:10.1200/JCO.22.02639

Surgeon and Radiologist Evaluation of Electromagnetic Chip Localization for Benign and Malignant Breast Lesions
CONCLUSION: There was successful EMC deployment by radiologists with accurate visualization and successful surgical excision in most cases. The EnVisioTM SmartClipTM system is a reproducible and accurate localization method for benign and malignant breast lesions.PMID:37552349 | DOI:10.1245/s10434-023-13976-5

Depth of radiographic response (DpR) and time to tumor regrowth (TTG) predicts overall survival following anti-VEGF therapy in recurrent glioblastoma
CONCLUSIONS: Recurrent glioblastoma patients with a large, durable radiographic response to anti-angiogenic agents have significantly longer survival. This information is useful for interpreting activity of anti-angiogenic agents in recurrent glioblastoma.PMID:37540556 | DOI:10.1158/1078-0432.CCR-23-1235
