Cryotherapy following total knee replacement
CONCLUSIONS: The certainty of evidence was low for blood loss, pain and range of motion, and very low for transfusion rate, function, total adverse events and withdrawals from adverse events. We are uncertain whether cryotherapy improves transfusion rate, function, total adverse events or withdrawals from adverse events. We downgraded evidence for bias, indirectness, imprecision and inconsistency. Hence, the potential benefits of cryotherapy on blood loss, pain and range of motion may be too small to justify its use. More well-designed randomised controlled trials focusing especially on clinically meaningful outcomes, such...

Chronic follicular pancreatitis: a space occupying lesion with spontaneous resolution
Rev Esp Enferm Dig. 2023 Sep 14. doi: 10.17235/reed.2023.9848/2023. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTFollicular pancreatitis (FP) is an extremely odd entity characterized by the presence of a pseudotumor that histologically presents lymphoid aggregates and germinal centers. The authors present the case of a 67-year-old woman with epigastric pain and jaundice. Endoscopic ultrasonography (EUS) was performed, revealing a 14x15 mm hypoechoic area with irregular edges in the head of the pancreas. The in situ cytological study showed polymorphic lymphoid cellularity, without atypia suggesting neoplasia. The cell block and the immun...

A retrospective observational study of the management of non-traumatic dental presentations at a tertiary centre in New Zealand: a Choosing Wisely approach
CONCLUSIONS: NTDPs may receive non-optimal management in EDs. Continuing to care for NTDPs in this environment may add to increased healthcare costs, access block and poor opioid and antimicrobial stewardship.PMID:37708483

Pregabalin versus Gabapentin Efficacy in the Management of Neuropathic Pain Associated with Failed Back Surgery Syndrome
CONCLUSION: Both Pregabalin and Gabapentin effectively and safely relieve neuropathic pain associated with FBSS; Pregabalin was significantly more effective irrespective of the patients' gender.PMID:37709550 | DOI:10.3340/jkns.2022.0225

Arteriovenous thrombosis, a complication of induction therapy with all ‐trans retinoic acid for acute promyelocytic leukemia: A case report
We report a case of arterial and venous thrombosis during induction therapy. This case emphasizes considering some degree of caution for thrombotic events in APL patients which was represented in our case as abdominal pain. Rapid initiation of anticoagulation and preventive measures is suggested for better management of the condition.

GSE242789 The Effect of Immunotherapy PD-1 Blockade on Acute Bone Cancer Pain: Insights from Transcriptomic and Microbiomic Profiling
Conclusions: Our study underscores fundamental connections among gastrointestinal toxicity, microbiota alterations, and acute cancer pain within the context of tumor immunotherapy. This work provides potential targets for the development of novel analgesics (targeting transcriptomic/microbiota factors), which could enhance the efficacy of bone pain management for cancer patients, ultimately improving their quality of life.

Outcomes and outcome measures utilised in randomised controlled trials of postoperative caesarean delivery pain: a scoping review
Internationally, approximately 140 million women experience childbirth every year. The rate of caesarean delivery (CD) continues to rise globally, estimated to reach nearly a third of all births by 2030.1 As a major abdominal surgery, CD can impact postpartum and long-term health.2,3 Despite the frequency and familiarity of CD, adequate management of postoperative pain after CD remains a challenge.4,5 Poorly managed pain after CD predicts a higher risk of persistent pain, postpartum depression and opioid dependence in women.

Elucidating the molecular mechanisms of ozone therapy for neuropathic pain management by integrated transcriptomic and metabolomic approach
In this study, we investigated the effects of ozone treatment on gene expression and metabolite levels in the brainstem and hypothalamus of a rat model, using a combined transcriptomic and metabolomic approach. Results: Our findings revealed significant alterations in key genes, including DCST1 and AIF1L, and metabolites such as Aconitic acid, L-Glutamic acid, UDP-glucose, and Tyrosine. These changes suggest a complex interplay of molecular pathways and region-specific mechanisms underlying the analgesic effects of ozone therapy.Discussion: Our study provides insights into the molecular targets of ozone treatment for neurop...
