Significance of Parenchymal Brain Damage in Patients with Critical Illness
Conclusions In critically ill patients without known neurological disease who have acute brain dysfunction, MRI reveals an unexpectedly high burden of underlying brain damage, which is associated with unfavorable outcome. The results indicate that brain damage could be an important and under-recognized factor contributing to critical illness brain dysfunction.

Comparison of Growth Plate Violations for Transtibial and Anteromedial Surgical Techniques in Simulated Adolescent Anterior Cruciate Ligament Reconstruction
Conclusion: Results suggest that the AM approach produces growth plate violations that are larger and more lateral than the violations generated using the TT technique. AM approaches were more likely to remove more than 8% of the physeal volume, a level previously identified as posing a greater risk of growth disturbances. While the difference in the mean physeal volume removed between the approaches was small, the violations for the AM approach were much more lateral, a finding of potentially greater clinical significance. Pediatric providers and radiology examinations: knowledge and comfort levels regarding ionizing radiation and potential complications of imaging
ConclusionProviders at our academic referral center have a high level of basic knowledge regarding modalities that use ionizing radiation, but they are less aware of ionizing radiation use in nuclear medicine studies. They find discussions with radiologists helpful and are concerned about complications of sedation and cost.

Pediatric Back Pain: A Scoring System to Guide Use of Magnetic Resonance Imaging
Conclusions: A predictive model was generated to help determine when ordering an MRI may result in a change in clinical management for workup of back pain in the pediatric population. The main factors included the presence of a neurological deficit, nocturnal symptoms, sudden onset, leg pain, lumbar pain, and age. Care providers can use these findings to better determine if and when an MRI might be appropriate. Level of Evidence: Level III—diagnostic study.
