Corona and Reproduction, or Why the Corona Vaccination Does Not Result in Infertility
Discussion Neither the animal models nor the human data presented in recent studies provide any indications that fertility decreases after being vaccinated against coronavirus. However, there is a growing body of evidence that severe SARS-CoV-2 infection has a negative impact on male fertility and there is clear evidence of an increased risk of complications among pregnant women with SARS-CoV-2 infection. The counseling offered to young adults should therefore take their fears and concerns seriously as well as providing a structured discussion of the current data.PMID:35528190 | PMC:PMC9076211 | DOI:10.1055/a-1750-9284

Fight Aging! Newsletter, July 11th 2022
In this study we employ a transcriptome-wide and multi-tissue approach to analyze the influence of both LTDR and short-term DR (STDR) at old age on the aging phenotype. We were able to characterize a common transcriptional gene network driving inflammaging in most of the analyzed tissues. This network is characterized by chromatin opening and upregulation in the transcription of innate immune system receptors and by activation of interferon signaling through interferon regulatory factors, inflammatory cytokines, and Stat1-mediated transcription. We also found that both DR interventions ameliorate this inflammaging phenotyp...

Potential "biopeptidal" therapeutics for severe respiratory syndrome coronaviruses: a review of antiviral peptides, viral mechanisms, and prospective needs
Appl Microbiol Biotechnol. 2021 Apr 19:1-14. doi: 10.1007/s00253-021-11267-1. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTAlthough great advances have been made on large-scale manufacturing of vaccines and antiviral-based drugs, viruses persist as the major cause of human diseases nowadays. The recent pandemic of coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19) mounts a lot of stress on the healthcare sector and the scientific society to search continuously for novel components with antiviral possibility. Herein, we narrated the different tactics of using biopeptides as antiviral molecules that could be used as an interesting alternative to treat CO...

Safety of components and platforms of COVID-19 vaccines considered for use in pregnancy: A rapid review
CONCLUSION: This rapid review found no evidence of pregnancy-associated safety concerns of COVID-19 vaccines or of their components or platforms when used in other vaccines. However, the need for further data on several vaccine platforms and components is warranted, given their novelty. Our findings support current WHO guidelines recommending that pregnant persons may consider receiving COVID-19 vaccines, particularly if they are at high risk of exposure or have comorbidities that enhance the risk of severe disease.PMID:34489131 | PMC:PMC8360993 | DOI:10.1016/j.vaccine.2021.08.034
