Long-Term Effects of Early Communication Interventions: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis
CONCLUSIONS: Outcomes of early language and communication interventions appear to persist for at least several months post-intervention. More research is needed with collection and evaluation of long-term outcomes, a focus on measurement, and consistency of primary study reporting.SUPPLEMENTAL MATERIAL: https://doi.org/10.23641/asha.23589648.PMID:37418755 | DOI:10.1044/2023_JSLHR-22-00711

A scoping review of the use of intelligent assistive technologies in rehabilitation practice with older adults
CONCLUSIONS: Collaborative efforts of policy-makers, researchers, manufacturers, rehabilitation professionals, and older persons are needed to improve the design of technologies, develop appropriate funding and reimbursement strategies, and minimise barriers to their appropriate use to support independence and quality of life. Any strategies to improve upon barriers to prescribing smart technologies for older people should leverage the expertise of rehabilitation professionals operating at the interface between older people; their health/mobility; their families; and technology-based solutions.Implications for rehabilitati...

Identifying Medications Underlying Communication Atypicalities in Psychotic and Affective Disorders: A Pharmacovigilance Study Within the FDA Adverse Event Reporting System
CONCLUSIONS: We provide a list of medications to account for in future studies of communication-related markers in affective and psychotic disorders. The current test case illustrates rigorous procedures for digital phenotyping, and the methodological tools implemented for large-scale disproportionality analyses can be considered a road map for investigations of communication-related markers in other clinical populations.SUPPLEMENTAL MATERIAL: https://doi.org/10.23641/asha.23721345.PMID:37524118 | DOI:10.1044/2023_JSLHR-22-00739

Perspectives of Speech-Language Pathologists and Students on Providing Care to People Living With Dementia: A Scoping Review
CONCLUSIONS: Mapping and analysis of the current body of knowledge within this scoping review illuminated several knowledge gaps that we propose need to be addressed to meet the education and training needs of SLPs to provide optimal care to PLWD. These include systematically measuring access to and outcomes of evidence-based education and training programs both within and outside of an interprofessional collaborative context.PMID:37532246 | DOI:10.1044/2023_AJSLP-22-00410

Interprofessional Practice Between Speech-Language Pathologists and Classroom Teachers: A Mixed-Methods Systematic Review
CONCLUSIONS: IPP between SLPs and CTs is complex, with various facilitators and barriers to IPP emerging within the education context. Competencies for SLPs and CTs related to having a shared understanding, adequate communication, and building relationships with each other help support IPP in schools. The utilization of a relationship-centered care approach between SLPs and CTs is also important to foster and support student outcomes.SUPPLEMENTAL MATERIAL: https://doi.org/10.23641/asha.24018732.PMID:37668590 | DOI:10.1044/2023_LSHSS-22-00168

A scoping review of oral language and social communication abilities in children with Tourette syndrome
CONCLUSIONS: Oral language and social communication skills are important for academic and social success. This scoping review can inform future research and support speech language pathologists in the assessment of young people with TS.WHAT THIS PAPER ADDS: What is already known on the subject Speech-language pathologists (SLPs) working in various contexts (e.g., schools, mental health teams...
