Bone marrow immune cells respond to fluctuating nutritional stress to constrain weight regain
Cell Metab. 2023 Sep 7:S1550-4131(23)00304-2. doi: 10.1016/j.cmet.2023.08.009. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTWeight regain after weight loss is a major challenge in the treatment of obesity. Immune cells adapt to fluctuating nutritional stress, but their roles in regulating weight regain remain unclear. Here, we identify a stem cell-like CD7+ monocyte subpopulation accumulating in the bone marrow (BM) of mice and humans that experienced dieting-induced weight loss. Adoptive transfer of CD7+ monocytes suppresses weight regain, whereas inducible depletion of CD7+ monocytes accelerates it. These cells, accumulating metabolic ...

Electroacupuncture at ST36 acupoint regulates stem cells during experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis
CONCLUSIONS: Our study suggested that EA at ST36 acupoint was an effective nonpharmacological therapeutic protocol that not only reduced the CNS demyelination and inflammatory cell infiltration in EAE disease but also increased the proportions of various stem cells. Further study is necessary to better understand how EA at the ST36 acupoint affects EAE.PMID:37647680 | DOI:10.1016/j.intimp.2023.110856

Anti-aging mechanism of different age donor-matched adipose-derived stem cells
CONCLUSIONS: Our data suggest an underlying molecular mechanism by which young-donor ASCs reduce immune cells and inflammation in aged mice via secreted immune factors. These findings point to a general anti-aging mechanism of stem cells, which may provide new insights into age-related disturbances of stem cell plasticity in healthy aging and age-related diseases.PMID:37533129 | DOI:10.1186/s13287-023-03415-3

16-Hydroxy-ent-halima-5(10),13-dien-15,16-olide from Polyalthia longifolia targets adipogenesis by inhibiting mitotic clonal expansion and ameliorates dyslipidemia
Fitoterapia. 2023 Jul 27:105626. doi: 10.1016/j.fitote.2023.105626. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTObesity-related metabolic disorders are increasing at an alarming rate worldwide. The FDA has approved many molecules for weight loss therapy; most of them act on the gut level by inhibiting lipid uptake or on the central nervous system by controlling appetite. Limitations and drawbacks have propelled the search for new pharmacophores exhibiting favourable metabolic alteration at adipocytes, and natural products have always been there to prove their worth. In our efforts, we have identified 16-hydroxy-ent-halima-5(10),13-dien-...

Fight Aging! Newsletter, July 17th 2023
In conclusion, the longevity-associated genotype of FLT1 may confer increased lifespan by protecting against mortality risk posed by hypertension. We suggest that FLT1 expression in individuals with longevity genotype boosts vascular endothelial resilience mechanisms to counteract hypertension-related stress in vital organs and tissues. Canine amniotic membrane-derived mesenchymal stem cells ameliorate atopic dermatitis through regeneration and immunomodulation
In conclusion, this study suggests that cAM-MSCs can be developed as a safe canine treatment for atopic dermatitis without side effects through effective regeneration and immunomodulation.PMID:37421548 | DOI:10.1007/s11259-023-10155-5
