Phenylethanoid glycosides derived from Cistanche deserticola promote neurological functions and the proliferation of neural stem cells for improving ischemic stroke
This study aims to investigate whether PhGs treatment improves the stroke and its potential mechanisms. Adult male C57BL/6 J mice were administrated PhGs once daily for 7 days after MCAO surgery. The neurological score, and catwalk were evaluated on Day 1, 3 and 7 after ischemic stroke. Furthermore, triphenyl-2,3,5-tetrazoliumchloride (TTC) and hematoxylin-eosin (H&E) staining were used for evaluating the infarct volume and neuronal restoration. The effects of PhGs on NSCs proliferation were investigated in vitro and in vivo. Western blot was used to detect the proteins of Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway. This study f...

Human adipose-derived stem cells preconditioned with a novel herbal formulation Jing Shi attenuate doxorubicin-induced cardiac damage
Aging (Albany NY). 2023 Sep 14;15. doi: 10.18632/aging.205026. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTPathological cardiac hypertrophy is a considerable contributor to global disease burden. Chinese herbal medicine (CHM) has been used to treat cardiovascular diseases since antiquity. Enhancing stem cell-mediated recovery through CHM represents a promising approach for protection against doxorubicin (Dox)-induced cardiac hypertrophy. Herein, we investigated whether human adipose-derived stem cells (hADSCs) preconditioned with novel herbal formulation Jing Si (JS) improved protective ability of stem cells against doxorubicin-induced ...

Herbal Medicines as adjuvants for the treatment of chemotherapy-induced diarrhea
CONCLUSION: In clinical practise, herbal medications show potential as adjuvant treatments for gastrointestinal toxicities brought on by chemotherapy, particularly diarrhoea. Further well-designed clinical studies are needed to validate their efficacy, ensure safety, and explore potential drug-herb interactions.PMID:37592799 | DOI:10.2174/1389200224666230817102224

Boeravinone B, a natural rotenoid, inhibits osteoclast differentiation through modulating NF- κB, MAPK and PI3K/Akt signaling pathways
In conclusion, our study demonstrates that BOB inhibits osteoclastogenesis and promotes osteoblastogenesis in vitro by regulating various signaling pathways. These findings suggest that BOB has potential value as a novel therapeutic agent for the prevention and treatment of osteoporosis.PMID:37574806
